This was the first digital camera I ever bought, and for a technophobe like me, it was easy to understand and get started with. It is extremely economical on batteries, has a lot of great functions and takes good quality pictures, although the pixelation is only 3.1, which falls below the requirements of most stock-photo sites that I contribute to. I even managed to produce a couple of award winners! Some digital cameras only have an LCD screen and in extreme sunshine, you cannot see what you are taking. I like that with the Minolta you can switch between LCD and viewfinder dependant on the lighting conditions. I like the camera's somewhat spaceage look and it is easy to grasp it firmly and take a steady shot. However, it is somewhat heavy and carrying it around on holiday eventually made my shoulder sore. It also has a basic video function, but it cannot record sound. The memory card can be read by any standard memory card reader. A great camera for the reasonable cost.
