I purchased this digital camera four months ago after having used my Nikon Coolpix CP2100 for about a year. I wanted a better performing camera with a greater zoom and more pixels.
With the choice of cameras on the market, this camera is at an intermediate level. Offers Anti-shake, 6.0 mega pixel resolution and manual aperture & shutter speed settings.
It comes in two colours silver or black with a high quality plastic finish with brushed aluminium lens shroud and rubber anti-slip grips.
Very easy to use on screen display with many features including the choice of photo size, colour and imprint if required. The camera has a pop up flash so no need to turn it on or off via the on screen display menus. An additional flash unit can be fitted if required.
Large 2 inch LCD screen with a very high quality display which allows you to check your picture directly after the shot without you taking your finger off the button.
The Z6 has a 35-420 mm GT APO lens which offers a 12x optical zoom and a 4x Digital zoom.
The settings dial is firm and has that old style car stereo feel to it. The macro and flash type buttons are equally well placed above the dial so no need for fiddly onscreen display settings via drop down menus. The zoom is a functional switch which is pushed either left or right to zoom in or out.
As step up into the more expensive cameras this was my first choice giving the user a much greater freedom than say the compact cameras for quick and fun family photos. This camera will bring photography to the next level with many settings for that extra special photo.
With the use of a 512k memory card (not included) the camera can also be used as a video camera with sound for those important mini-movies but the real advantage is quality of the photographs. A useful function is the access to the SD card, with out having to open the battery tray.
On a fully charged set of 2300mAH rechargeable batteries a good 200 + photos at maximum quality setting can be taken without the worry of not having sufficient battery power. However, with the use of flash this will shorten the amount of photos that can be taken as will the use of the video camera.
I have found I run out of SD card space before battery use on a good days photo shoot.
The only feature which feels flimsy is the switch to change the type of display either onscreen view, view finder or playback. The knob feels weak and fragile.

Thanks for all the info, as I am looking for an upgraded digital camera and have been considering several I want to be able to have video with sound, as the one I have doesn't have sound only video, and I have to recharge the batteries all the time and I have a 512 sd card, and never get to fill it with photos of good quality without the batteries draining. I will think seriously about this camera
