Advantages: Easy to use, good quality pictures Disadvantages: Doesn't use normal batteries
...Having only really used poor quality digital cameras in the past (the big bulky ones, with terrible quality pictures), I was very impressed with the KonicaMinoltaDimageXG.
The quality of the pictures is superb, almost like you aren't using a digital camera. The high quality is a substantial difference to the blurred and speckled pictures of so many other digital cameras. The quality alone is worth buying the camera.
As a bit of a technophobe, this camera was fantastic for me. Whereas I'd prefer to use a point and shoot camera, this one was really easy to use. I even mastered the video recording feature (2.5 minutes length), without help!! :-)
The only downfall to this camera is the rechargable battery. Although lasting a great deal of time, the inability to use "ordinary" batteries means that a replacement battery in a hurry...

Advantages: Gorgeous design, weatherproofing is a plus, easy to use Disadvantages: Few override options, no sound on the video mode, loses out in the value stakes these days
...300 is, price-wise, head to head with the Minolta G400 and Xg and the Pentax Optio S30, and in this company it is found seriously wanting. All of these other cameras feature sound in their video clip modes, power up in less than 2 seconds (the G400 powers up in a stunning 0.8 seconds from sliding the lens cover across to taking your first shot!), are smaller, lighter , and have more options. The Mju 300 was designed to be a simple to use camera, and Olympus achieved this at the expense of any manual overrides. Even the simplest model of the competition, the DimageXg, features the ability to select ISO speeds manually, set the metering pattern, set the white balance, etc.
These days, it is fair to say that you can get more for your money. The Mju 300 is not a bad camera, it's just that time and progress have moved on around it and left...

Advantages: small, easy to use, feature packed Disadvantages: can not use ordinary batteries
...of them 'gimmicky' but some useful ones too (see minoltas website for details)
One thing that worried me before I bought the camera was the battery. The camera uses a rechargeable lithium battery (like a small cell phone battery) this means that if it goes flat, you can not put in a couple of AA's to tide you over. However, since using the camera I find that even after a full day of taking flash photos and movies the battery does not run out. That said, a spare battery can be obtained for less than £20, this is worth considering if you are a really heavy user. The battery has to be removed and placed in a separate charger, but this is a simple operation.
There are plenty of cheaper cameras out there with a higher resolution, but resolution alone does not determine the quality of the picture. I think overall, considering the features, picture...
