The picture quality was good enough to frame and hang on the wall. Although maybe not as sharp as it might have been had it been professionally ... ...difference. It popped out in under 5 seconds - much faster than the manufacturer's specs.
What we bought this for was to print brochures for my wife's business. It churns out good quality prints on 100gsm textured paper much cheaper than if we went to a printers - and it gives us the flexibility of changing the brochure regularly. Set up was very easy and although the box was large (much to the delight of our young son who has been playing in it) there was little unwanted packaging inside.
The toner cartridges are cheaper than many other models and have a good capacity, and definitely cheaper that repalcing ink-jet cartridges for big print runs. It should have paid for itself in three months.
The machine is compact for a laser and produces better quality prints than the machines I have at my work.
I haven't had experience of laser printers that are priced in the £1000+ bracket, but for a self-employed person or someone with children who like to do a lot of printing this is perfect.
If you are on a tight budget, save up for the replacement toner cartridges - although they last a lot longer than inkjet cartridges, they do cost more to replace and they will eventually run out.
It is no more noisy than an inkjet printer.
The design is professional looking but robust (great when there are young children about.)
