This is Konica Minolta's first "in house" manufactured Printer, and the effort required to make a good first impression certainly shows. It is sturdy looking without being too utilitarian.
Photo quality is good, there is room for improvement, but this would only be required/desired if you were perhaps involved in the graphics industry. Photo quality is good, there is room for improvement, but this would only be required/desired if you were perhaps involved in the graphics industry. At 2400dpi though, it certainly gives detailed enough photo's. I have seen Estate Agent Particulars printed with this machine and they look very good.
When you do come to print in Colour, the actual performance comes close to the 20 Colour PPM that Konica Minolta quote in their Specifications.
The printer has stamina, with a duty cycle of 60K pages per month. This is quite enough for most small to medium sized offices.
In my experience mostly Estate Agents and Schools purchase this Printer. The quick throughput and Network connectivity suits them perfectly. For a little over £300, you are getting a printer which gives performance way over what should be expected at this price.
Also look out for Free Extended Warranty's, makes it it all the more worthwhile(Probably ending January 2006)
**Specification**
+20 ppm colour and monochrome print speed Windows Compatible - Even though it has a Post Script emulator it is more problematic than it's worth. If you were to use it on a Mac system, you would be waiting a long time. +2400 x 600 dpi resolution +64 MB memory upgradable to 576 MB - hardly ever needed. +250-sheet multi-purpose feeder 11250 sheets input max. Unfortunately the printer doesn't have a bypass feeder, which means you won't be able to print banners or business cards. +Network ready (10/100 BT) +Hi-speed USB 2.0 +250-sheet multi-purpose feeder +Paper weight: up to 210 gsm +Optional duplexer +Duplex as standard on 5430DLD +Duplex and lower feeder as standard on 5430DLX +Back-lit display +Only 5 consumables - this is great, as you don't have as much to worry about. It cuts the cost per page slightly, but not considerably. +In the box - magicolor 5430 DL Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black Toner Cartridges (yield up to 3,000 letter/A4 pages @ 5% coverage) Transfer Belt Waste Toner Box
My experience of this machine is two fold. Firstly I use it at work, and secondly it is a product my company sells. In short, I get to see first hand the operation of the Printer but also have an idea of any issues that this machine has, through feedback from my customers.
