Nearly all my experiences have been favourable. The machine is a chromatic tuner. This means that it can and has been used on a variety of instruments, mostly string ones from mandolins to Super low basses and bassoons. I have made one or two guitars in my carreer too. The tuner can be calibrated from between 410 - 480 Hz for C. This is highly accurate I've checked it on my frequency meter.
When the tuner is calibrated, it can then be used to tune the other strings on the instrument. There are three ways to do this. One is to use the audio pickup on the tuner -perfectly ok in the living room - gets a bit tricky if there are noises around - but becomes impossible when the band is rehearsing. The internal amp in the Korg is just too good!
Plug your guitar lead into the Korg - works perfectly but there's no line thru' so you can't check the volume levels. The tuner is very sensitive so you can have your guitar down to 1 and it still reads.
Or add a Peterson or some other sort of piezo pickup and clamp it to your guitar. I leave min clamped to the headstock of my guitar, still dead accurate but doesn't get in the way. The only irritation is the tuner has nowhere to sit so I can see it when tuning. Still working on that one. Ironically the Peterson piezo is more expensive than the tuner - but you can use it on any tuner wth a Jack Socket. (Hunt on Stewmac)
In use -pure intuition, can't fault it ,Auto off, big display could be backlit I suppose. It would add to the cost and battery life. The LED's that track the tuning are handy. You have to watch that it hasn't flipped from one note to another A to Asharp etc.
So good that I considerered importing and selling it but could never match the discounted prices. I've had mine 2 to 3 years, tuned 3 guitars weekly sometimes daily, for the price far better than anything I've used. There will be stuff out there equally as good but never needed to look.

For the bass players it is pretty much the same thing, you just change modes. It is also easy to select the different string options for different instruments for example you can get a seven-string guitar and a six-string bass mode.

Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, quick and efficient Disadvantages: None
The Korg GA-30 is a must for anyone who tunes guitars. I have recently started to learn to play guitar, initially finding the tuning process frustraiting and long. (I play piano and have that tuned every 6 months, tuning a guitar every time i play = long) I just want to get down to playing! The korg is fantastic, you can tune using the inbuilt mic, great if its quiet, but better still to plug in the direct jact port. Then just watch the scale and/or ... ...to get the note perfect. It also has a function to drop the note your tuning by a semi-tone to 5 semi-tones (ie two and half tones (notes) so tuning a drop D is easy as pie and you don't have reconfigure the device, just a touch of a button and you can drop tune any note! You can also tune bass guitars just as easily. Overall great value for money and so easiy to use i don't know why anyone would tune manually or with anything else. ...

Advantages: Very easy to use, very accurate. Disadvantages: Quite small, loud noises can interfere with tuning with built in mic.
This is a must for any musician on the move, or simply someone who needs to tune guitars often. The whole thing is incredibly easy to use, with three clear lights that light up according to the note.
To use it, you can either use the built in microphone, and it will pick up the sounds very easily, but can be troublesome if there is too much background noise, things like a tv, even other guitars playing in the background can be fine, but there are ... ...simply use your musical cable (same type you use for an amplifier) and plug it into the jack socket in the side of the tuner. It will then pick up anything you play.
The small dial alternates between the right and left sides, making it very clear how far you are from hitting the right note. The red lights will turn off and the middle green light will turn on as soon as you are close enough to the right note.
There is the option to tune flat to ...

...in which to tune. The Korg has a microphone that is sensitive enough for you to play the bass un-amplified near to the tuner, Or you can plug your bass directly into into the tuner via the jack to jack lead in order to tune. An easy to read display shows how far your off the mark and shows the frequency of the string in question. The digital display is useful, the three LED's show when the note is sharp or flat.
In my opinion, this tuner is perfect ...
