The internal memory offers a total of 512 Programs, 384 Combinations (each consisting of up to eight Programs) and 24 drum kits - plus an additional 128 GM programs and nine drum kits. Two master effects, a stereo 3-band master EQ and one stereo insert effect are available, using 89 different effect types. Effects parameters can be modulated in real time, and can sync to MIDI clock or to the internal 16-track sequencer which holds up to 200,000 notes and 200 songs. Intuitive user interface and real-time controllers including a joystick, two assignable switches and four assignable knobs. A high-capacity (up to 1 GB) SD card storage provides quick saving of user-created Programs, Combinations, Drum Kits, sample data and songs. The TR 76 also offers integral USB MIDI functionality. For live performance and songwriting, the TR's dual polyphonic arpeggiators enable the creation and playback of intricate pitched patterns and drum grooves. Korg's RPPR (Realtime Pattern Play/Recording) function allows sequenced patterns to be triggered from individual notes on the keyboard -- useful for difficult-to-play passages, DJ-like performance and quick song creation. Sampling can be added to the TR with the EXB-SMPL Sampling option. EXB-SMPL adds two audio inputs with mic/line switching and a variable gain knob, and supports 16-bit/48 kHz linear mono/stereo sampling. The TR 76 offers sophisticated sample editing functions including graphic waveform display (with a BPM note grid), Crossfade Loop, Truncate, Normalize, Time Slice, Time Stretch, Reverse and even Rate Convert. The EXB-SMPL supplies a SCSI interface for connection to external SCSI hard

Korg Blimey

Advantages: Full-length, nice key action
Disadvantages: Not a real piano!

I use this stage piano in my rock band, barkerhound(.com). It is full length (88 notes) with what I would call semi-weighted keys. I'm actually a pianist, so my knowledge of keyboards/synths is more limited. However, as a pianist going to a keyboard I love the action and feel of these keys, there's really something to play against and the responsiveness is nice - not too light. It has 6 different sound options - Piano, Electric Piano, Harpsichord, Vibraphone, Organ and Strings plus various other functions which to be honest, I don't really go near - I pair this Korg up with a Nord rack (better piano/organ sounds). On saying that, I will be using this Korg as part of a piano/vocal duo and know that it is light enough to be wheeled about in it's flight case (I'm a girl, the boys I know carry it with even more ease). If you ...

Bad KARMA? Korg Synth

Advantages: incredible sounds
Disadvantages: you need a Phd to work it!

KARMA -- Now the dictionary term for Karma is "seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad" and perhaps this is the most apt explanation of the KORG Karma as it has good and bad sides to it. On the good side, this machine sounds bloody fantastic. All of the individual programme sounds are excellent (e.g Piano is faultless, vibraphone and music box are superb and the strings are excellent) but the real fun starts in the combination files which picks a number of individual sounds and fuses them together, adds a bit of Karma magic and hey presto it sounds incredible!!!!!!!!!! Remember the KARMA is run off of the same engine that powers the TRITON so you know you're getting top class sounds. You then have a plethora of realtime controls (12 in total) all of which can be programmed so you can add effects, effect ...

Korg padKONTROL

Advantages: Light, Portable, Compact, User Friendly, Easy setup, works on all platforms Mac/PC
Disadvantages: collects dust very easily, so keep cleaning, doesnt work well with vista

The Korg padKontrol provides a powerful array of hands-on MIDI control and includes professional drum software. In my opinion the Korg padKONTROL adds another dimension beyond traditional keyboard control for incredibly expressive and versatile pad control. In addition to accessing drum sounds and samples the padKONTROL can also control soft synths, effects, and digital audio workstation transport controls as well as trigger loops and video clips. I use the padKontrol with Ableton Live which from my point of view is the best combination of software and hardware for all your producing needs. The assignable X-Y touchpad provides real-time, natural-sounding flam?s and rolls while 16 great-feeling illuminated trigger pads and assignable knobs give all the control you need. Each of the 16 pads on the Korg padKONTROL Controller can be ...
