These Koss The Plug earphones are amazing, they isolate outside noise simply by using earplugs which insert into the ear canal and seal out any unwanted noise, as well as preventing any sound from leaking out. This means that you can listen to music at lower volumes and still be able to here it clearly. They block out the majority of noise around you, so you won't hear a baby crying on the train but you won't hear the announcer either!

I have had my Koss The Plug earphones for just over 10 months and they have survived being stuffed in my bag/pocket very well with no loosening of the wires or any problems with sound quality. They have stood up well to everyday use but do not come with a carry case which is the one addition which would have been nice.
I got my earphones from ebay for £8 but they generally sell for around £15

Before I got these headphones the only way I could clearly hear my music in loud environments such as busses was to turn the volume right up, which is obviously not good for the ears and it can cause distortion not to mention annoying others. Now though I rarely turn the volume up to half way and usually less than that. Fellow travellers are also no longer disturbed by tinny beats emanating from my earphones!
The only problem with these headphones is that all of the 4 sets of foam plugs supplied were too large for my ears and I also found that the foam expanded too quickly after being squeezed and so combined with the overlarge size they were difficult to fit. However this was a simple problem to fix with a cheap pair of earplugs which just need to have a small hole made through them to slide them onto the actual earphone tube solved the problem admirably, and now with the cheap and easy alteration I find them incredibly comfortable and easy to fit plus there is the added bonus that they don't fall out of your ears.
The fact you can change the foam for more suitable size and texture so easily is great. It means that almost any earplugs can be adapted and used on them so your not restricted to any particular brand for replacement foam plugs.

I really would recommend these earphones, with the minor ear cushion replacement (which I think most people would need to do) they provide a comfortable fit and give really good quality sound with excellent value for money. The price range varies but as with everything it's best to shop around to find the best price.
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Poor bottom and top end reproduction, a bit too small for my ears, zero isolation
It's hard to believe I bought the same thing as the previous reviewer. They provide no isolation whatsoever; the supplied foam plugs (2 sets, not 4, and all the same size) are only just large enough to stop the buds from falling out of my ears; finally the sound quality leaves a great deal to be desired. Without equalisation they are simply unusable. With maximum bass and minimum treble they are better balanced, but the bottom end is rather ... ...pan sizzling). The mid-range reproduction is excellent and highly detailed, but that's really a minimum criterion for bothering to listen to anything.
Sure, they're probably better than most players' supplied buds, but I would rather have spent 3 times as much as these cost on something 3 times as good. My old Sennheiser MX500s (the original metallic blue model, not the more recent white substandard one) were distinctly better than these, at 1.5 ...

When you open the package and take out the stereophones they feel quiet cheap as if they won't last long. The lead was already twisted and took a while to sort out. Weight is only 13grams and this ...

Advantages: great bass, stays in ear better than most and great price Disadvantages: wire gets tangled, may not fit everyone's ears
Originally had the koss 'the plug' headphones and was very happy with their saound and bass. after a while i needed a replacement and thought i would get this newer version.
one thing that did annoy me with the old and this new version is the wire gets tangled very easily and is very flimsy when compared to a pair of sony headphones.
i have found that these headphones do not fit as well as the previous version did. hopefully this will change over time. although saying this, they do not fall out which is a good.
i paid £6 for these on ebay and cannot complain. i prefer these to the £30 sony headphones as they provide more bass, stay in my ear better and for the price they are a top pair of heaphones. ...

Advantages: Good sound quality. Good sound isolation. Disadvantages: Ear pads wear away after a few months, are easily lost and too expensive to replace
distortion.
Before buying The Plug, I read a number of reviews and fear that it has had a bad press. To achieve great The Plug to fit directly into the ear canal. Sounds painful, doesn't it ? Don't worry, cushioned rubber ear pads make this design comfortable. Basically, before you place them in your ear, you scrunch up the ear pads. Once inside, they expand to fit your ear and provide the seal that aids the quality sound. Some reviewers have reported discomfort, but I find them comfortable enough.Tthe other major advantage of The Plug's design is that they stay in your ear.
Every few months, the ear pads wear out, but Koss provide a number of spares in the same pack which should last for a number of years.
One word of warning - the sound isolation provided by The Plug really is effective, so watch out for traffic as you probably won ...

Koss The Plug is a stereo earbud for the discriminating listener. It delivers accurate acoustical reproduction and unbelievable isolation typically found in more expensive, closed-style stereophones. The Plug features a dynamic element that is positioned just outside the ear and connected to a tubular port structure that is inserted on a soft expandable cushion into the ear canal.
