"Our Borneo escape"

We decided to visit Borneo[sabah] as we have travelled to quite a few places in asia, and wanted to try somewhere abit differant.
We flew from Manchester to Kuala lumpur, the capital city with Malaysian airlines, and spent a few days ,relaxing and adjusting to the heat and humidity before taking a short 2 hour flight to Kota kinabalu.
We stayed at the Tanjung aru resort, one of the well known shangri-la group hotels.
It is a fabulous hotel, and anyone could quite happily spend a week or two there without leaving the resort, but why go all that way when all around you there is such a wide range of nature and activites to explore.
If you like beaches, jump on one the hotels speed boats, and five minutes later you have the choice of five glorious islands to spend the day,the water is crystall clear, and so very warm, the snorkling is brilliant, and if you are lucky you may get a moniter lizard[ot two] wonder past .
There are hiking trails through the centre of the islands, and you can even find a stretch of beach exclusivily for yourself.
If you are into something abit more challenging, how about a spot of mountain climbing.Mount kinabalu,south-east asia's highest mountain is only a couple of hours away, and the climb is pretty tough.
I'm proud to say i made it [by torchlight] to the summit, just in time to see the sun rising,a sight that i will never forget.
If wildlife is your interest, the sister hotel, the rasa ria has it's own orangutans, they live in a natural forest beside the hotel, and are regually fed by the park rangers, they come right up close to you,and are fasinating creatures.
A short boatride away ,will take you down river, where you can spot the rare and most peculiar loking probocus monkeys,to see these creatures in thier natural habitat is fantastic.
If you enjoy a spot of shopping ,Kota kinabalu town,,a quick ten minute taxi ride away, has plenty of shopping malls where you can get some good bargains.
Food and drink is extremly cheap, and so tasty.
Borneo is our favourite holiday destination so far,it has everything we enjoy ,you can be ultra lazy.or extremly active.
We visited sabah during march and april, and you could not have wished for better weather[unless you do not like the sun!!!],everyday was very hot and sunny, there were clouds about, but they hung over the mountain way beyond the resort.
The cost of the flight was roughly £400, the hotel was approx £40 per night b&b , ,if you fly with cut price airline, internal flights are very reasonable. The main expence is actually getting there from the uk. Once in Malaysia nothing is dear.
Go visit for yourselves,it is a truly fasinating country, with such diverse activites and scenery , that no one could fail to enjoy .

Nice review. To make it better. Put spacing in between paragraghs and add headings. When you are a green dot you can add pics. Have a look at some of my reviews for ideas please. I would appreciate the feedback. Also add the price to your report not just in the comments. Sean

Hi, Thanks for your comments,i have added to my report, hopefully including what you would like to know. It is very easy to book everything over the internet, and as i said in my new report, once you get to malaysia it really is very cheap to live, the hotel we stayed in is a 5 star,so £20 each a night for bed and a fab buffet breakfast is excellant value. We also stayed in Kuala lumpur for 3 nights ,and penang,we were away for 28 nights altogether, and the whole trip ,with spending money cost about £3500.

Sounds lovely but as suggested below a little more on prices and just in general a little more info - what's the weather like during the year, who would be suitable to visit here (families, couples, etc.) Hope that helps a little, x
