philadeplphia extra light was founded by a American milkman by back in 1872, which is a long time ago, I am really suprised the Kraft company make a time line story about this.
I am sure most people are familiar with the kraft PhiladelphiaTelevision advert from a few years ago which I will not bother talking about in too great detail as it showed a beautiful female sitting down on a Sun Bed ouside on a warm summer's day looking to enjoy herself by eating the original version of Philadelphia spread.
So here I am now reviewing kraft's extra Light Spread. I am thinking to myself, what would the Television advert look like now. This part of the opinion is where it shall end. The Product itself was launched in 2001 with less than six per cent fat content inside. Today it contains four point seven grams of fat.
Basic ingredients: The basic ingredients are: Milk, Cream and stabilisers.
The
cream cheese is pure white in Colour, the texture is creamy and sticky. The product is made in belgium which is more better known for making Chocolate's.
The way in which this spread is used is by having and eating it with biscuits and Cracker's to fully appreciate this Product.
On a nutritional basis from the low fat, low salt and sugar content this product bodes well for eating as a safe and healthy product. Though closer inspection shows with little fiber content this Product really does not do much to help digestion or promote Healthy Eating interest's to a higher level. The people that are going to benefit most from this are those seeking to try and reduce calories as the traditional cheese Product contain much higher levels of fat content. So this is a winner in terms of trying to control and reduce weight.
Very good recipes contained on the website as possible uses from the product include
Fruity Breakfast - Sweeten Light Philladelphia with a little honey or Maple Syrup, then layer with low sugar Muesli and fresh berries in a bowl to serve.
Creamy Scrambled Egg's - Why not try stirring a little Philly Light into some eggs with a few freshly chopped herbs as they are cooking. Serve with warm crusty rolls or thickly sliced toast.
Fruity pancakes - Fill Ready made pancakes with Light Philly, sweetened with a little honey or Maple Syrup & pieces of fresh Fruit.
Warming Breakfast - spread light Philly with Chives over hot multi-grain toast & top with grilled mushrooms, freshly chopped herbs and a little ground Black Pepper.
Breakfast spread - Swirl Philly Light with your favourite breakfast spread on toast for a fresher tasting twist. Philly tastes great with Chocolate Spread, jam or lemon curd as a lower fat alternative to the spread on its own.
Making home made cheese cakes is a real possibility with this product as the world of sweet and savoury can be combined to make philadelphia extra lightcheese Spread a product with a long term future. Though not a fan of these type of cakes, those with a sweet tooth can really enjoy the benefits of this relatively low cost Product. The product simply is a fast and easy way of preparing the cheese based mix to make such cakes.
The product is suitable for vegetarians and it is best used within five day's of opening the packaging. The product has a expiry date usually six month's to one year.
The product is available in supermarkets and prices range from Tesco for a four pack of thirty five gram's, cheese and costs one Pound and thirty four pence. There is also a Original philadelphia version along with a Soft cheese, and garlic product available on Tesco supermarket shelves. I am aware that other supermarkets will stock these products and therefore Asda, Morrissons, Sainsbury's and lets not forget iceland will sell this product.
The product is a fresh cheesy savoury taste very plain and ordinary. Though this is a product that has never left an unpleasant after taste that so many other cheese products I have tried before. The spread is very user friendly as it really does spread to bread, crackers very nice and easily.
Kraft's Website http://www.philadelphia.co.uk/ contains recipes, nutritional guideline's and much more. The product does not contain gluten and does not have aspartamne derivative product's that would be found in soya and artificial sweetener products. There is some water contained on the top of the product though here it is in effect the water separating from the cheese liquid. Also the product does not contain Genetically Modified based food, so I would stress that this is a useful selling point in Customer safety and quality standards.
Kraft also have a Telephone number for consumer enquiries. 0808 1000 678
Conclusion
Very spreadable cheese Product, Good for a wide range of Food's and use with different Food's. I feel that this product is a slightly under estimated product. On the whole I would rarely use this cheese Spread as I feel that based on low fibre content that really this is just an indulgent treat for of Snack based Food. I tend to prefer the Original cheese from Kraft as it has a much richer, smoother creamy flavour.
