Advantages: Clarity Of Sound *** Deep SoundStage *** Value For Money. Disadvantages: The P500 Can Not Be Bridged If Bi-Amping.
...At the time of writing this review, you will probably be very lucky to purchase a P500 that is brand new, having said that I have noticed that the second hand market for P500's is very much alive and kicking. Hence an honest and reliable review from a guy who has two of these wolves in sheeps clothing from new...me!
I purchased my P500 in 2000 for £99.99 along with the C500 at £149.95 after burning them both in for around a 100 hours, I wasn't expecting sonic miracles for around the £250 mark but I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth response but WAS amazed by the deep soundstage, but it was to controlled for my taste, "ZZ TOP sounded like they had suits on" is the best way I can describe the sound. I was then surprisingly offered (cheap) a Rotel 980 BX Pre Amp, which I replaced the C500 (just to see if there was any difference...

Advantages: Easy to use, sensitive world-band receiver Disadvantages: No Clock & Not water-proof, but a sundial & plastic bag fixes that!
...Feather-weight Radio with a big green heart!
This Eton FR250 packs a lot of performance in a small form factor (about six inches square and under 2 inches thick).
Reception is good for its price-range, and large chunky controls are easy to use - even with gloves!
The FR250's greenest feature is its wind-up power generation mode, pitched by Eton as an "Emergency Radio, the wind-up power feature is also a great way to stay warm & focused in cold conditions!
Other Emergency features include a bright LED torch, Flashing Red beacon and a ear-piercing Siren to attract attention in difficult rescue locations. Its Emergency status is bolstered by an external port which can charge a mobile phone from the FR250's own power-generator, and be powered by an external mains transformer, or only three AA batteries if available in the urban...

I bought one of these recently as my old ipaq-based TomTom is getting more outdated each day and there doesn't seem to be a reasonably-priced way to update it. I have to say I was expecting better.
The manual is small because there aren't as many features as you get with TomTom. For example TomTom allows you to set the distance between your POI and it's alert sounding. This Garmin seems to sound the alert at it's own preset distance warning which you can't change from the menu system.
It also seems to take a while to find the satellites. We went to our local park on saturday which is about a mile from home and we were practically on the car-park before it locked on. The worst part though was how innacurate the maps seem to be. On one trip, It didn't have...
