Advantages: Lovely silver tone Disadvantages: Silver heads leave marks :(
...My first flute was the old old first Yamaha 211 model which i loved. I produce apretty good tone on my own and after 9 years of playing my teacher recommended i get a new flute. I culdn't see any reason why to at first but as soon as I tried the YFL311S i could sure see why.
The 311S has an e-mec (allowing you to reach high E more easily) and a split G (which improves tuning) and unlike it's student model sister the YFL211S has a higher quantitty of silver in it's body.
I bought mine for about £700 and I fell it was money well worth spent. I don't think it comes with the silver head as standard but it's well well worth getting the solid silver head as it makes so much difference to the sound.
I'm currently looking at doing my first diploma after having passed my grade 8 with this flute and it handles everything i play...

Advantages: Beautiful tone and easy to reach high notes. Disadvantages: None that i can think of.
...I have now been playing the flute for 8 years and only brought my second flute (the Yamaha 311) 2 years ago. At the time I was admittedly a bit of a novice when it came to different types of flutes and the different qualities in which they came. So when i decided to go for my grade 8 i decided that a change of flute was in order so i popped along to my reputable flute store to have a 'toot' on what they had available.
The Yamaha 311 was one of the first ones i'd tried and was the one i couldn't seem to match afterwards. It has a nice hold to it, very comfortable, whereas some of the others just didn't seem to mould into your hands as this one did. Most noticeably the tone is really great. It is easy to get in...

Advantages: Almost Fully Customisable, Great Fail-Safe Features, Heavy Duty, Hidden Foot Spikes Disadvantages: Ridiculously Expensive! The Rubber Felts Tend To Go Missing, No Spares
...I own an H-2000 hi hat stand, and it is amazing! Its built especially so that you can have your slave pedal (from your double bass pedal or whatever pedal you cant to keep next to your hi-hat) right next too it without having to worry that a 3rd leg will be in the way.
*The cam is interchangeable with 4 different colour coded types allowing you to select the action of your hi-hat (slow then fast, fast consistent, slow consistent and fast then slow).
*The spring is also adjustable which allows you to change the strength of the feel of the hi-hat raising up. The clutch comes with a fail-safe nut and when tightened is meant to keep the cymbal from unscrewing it (it has saved me a million times!) However the clutch doesn't have a fail safe for keeping to the stem, which gets a little annoying because if you smack the wing nut, the top hi...
