...The title may strike you as somewhat odd. An LCD monitor which is great for games? That's right!
It used to be said that LCD monitors were poor for applications that had objects moving around rather quickly on the screen (action games mainly). The monitor could not keep up with movement of the game and produced a "ghosting" effect. When the previous position of the game remained on the screen for a split second after the next frame had been displayed.

Advantages: Great picture, very stylish, very small footprint, good value. Disadvantages: Tricky to clean, unknown brand.
...I'm writing this review in front of my Xiod IM17SM flat panel monitor which I am absolutely over the moon with. I don't know how I ever coped with CRT!

Yet 18 months pass and now these Flat Panel Monitors are bundled with computers as if they had always been around. I didn’t decide to get a new computer; instead I bought this Philips 170S4FB Monitor separately from my local John Lewis.
The screen is exactly 17 inches diagonally which is a very impressive size since before Flat Panels; 17 inch monitors would have a screen size of around 15 inches. Basically with a Flat panel, what you see is...
