I bought this Krups coffee maker at a large electrical store a year ago for £69.99. It's the first time I've ever had a filter maker with a thermal jug (as opposed to a glass jug) so I did wonder if it would be any good.
The maker itself is tall as opposed to the 'squat' shape which is more usual. It measures 40cm high x 20cm wide x 30cm deep (approx) and fits easily into a small corner. It is black, with a chrome coloured jug and has a modern ... ...water tank at the top, a 'swing out' section for the filter coffee, the thermal jug which sits underneath and an on/off button.
There is no hotplate - rather than the coffee sitting on a heated surface and 'stewing', the jug keeps it at the perfect temperature without spoiling the flavour. Although it does cool down eventually, I have drunk coffee 4 hours after making it and it tasted fine.

Advantages: Keeps coffee hot in the thermos flask instead of stewing it on a hot plate Disadvantages: Must remove the flask from the stand as soon as it has brewed otherwise coffee gets cold very quickly

I've had my Krups coffeemaker for 4 years, and have had no problems with deterioration.
It makes delicious coffee (as long as I start out with a decent bean).
The thermos keeps it nice and hot for a couple of hours without changing the consistency--definitely an advantage over the glass pots where quality diminishes over time.
It's a nice machine; I like the way it looks on my kitchen counter.
A few times I have had trouble with it leaking, and ... ...so rarely, I am virtually certain that these episodes can be traced to my imperfect set-up of the system--still it's happened more with this machine than with others before it.
I do recommend this machine. I would be likely to purchase another Krups product in the future. ...
