Advantages: Looks great, adjustable hinges, large cooking area, heats up quickly Disadvantages: None!!
...I searched high and low for a panini press that looked good, had adjustible hinges and had ridged plate rather than flat plates to give that characteristic panini appearance. Eventually I found the Krups panini press which at £49.99 from John Lewis was quite pricy compared to some but in my opinion worth every penny. It is also available from Amazon priced at £49.97 with free super saver delivery.
This model is in stainless steel and its plates measure 240mm x 296mm meaning that it has a large cooking area - plenty of room to fit two paninis on at once. it is ideal for paninis because the lid has adjustable hinges so that it will sit flat on top of the panini rather than squeezing the filling out of the side as some models do. It also allows you to cook foods of different thicknesses evenly. The handle is fully heat insulated so...

Advantages: Ease of use, perfect coffee, great for frothing milk. Disadvantages: Hard to use a mug for coffee
...Was looking for a "normal" coffee machine (can't spell capucinno) - see,
and checked out the Nespresso macines - quite by accident.
Easy to use, great coffee and great choice !! No mess either.
At first I was not impressed by the cost of the capsules (64c each) but after talking about other machines / grinders / clean up / bar pressure / timing and practice I was dubious I could produce the "great coffee I enjoyed at my local shops.
I knew the Nespresso tasted great and I knew I could do it myself - everytime!!! THAT WAS WORTH 64c each time.
Come to think of it - at my friends houses with coffee machines - none of them are really THAT nice a cup of coffee.
After a little thought over a nice skinny latte I realised it is all about the taste - Nespresso had it !!! Simple.
There were several machines BUT the Krups 897 had the "normal...

Advantages: aesthetically pleasing, makes great coffee Disadvantages: can be leaky if not carefully used
...I've had my Krups coffeemaker for 4 years, and have had no problems with deterioration.
It makes delicious coffee (as long as I start out with a decent bean).
The thermos keeps it nice and hot for a couple of hours without changing the consistency--definitely an advantage over the glass pots where quality diminishes over time.
It's a nice machine; I like the way it looks on my kitchen counter.
A few times I have had trouble with it leaking, and the coffee goes all over the counter instead of into its urn. Because it happens so rarely, I am virtually certain that these episodes can be traced to my imperfect set-up of the system--still it's happened more with this machine than with others before it.
I do recommend this machine. I would be likely to purchase another Krups product in the future....
