I searched high and low for a panini press that looked good, had adjustible hinges and had ridged plate rather than flat plates to give that characteristic panini appearance. Eventually I found the Krups panini press which at £49.99 from John Lewis was quite pricy compared to some but in my opinion worth every penny. It is also available from Amazon priced at £49.97 with free super saver delivery.

This model is in stainless steel and its plates measure 240mm x 296mm meaning that it has a large cooking area - plenty of room to fit two paninis on at once. it is ideal for paninis because the lid has adjustable hinges so that it will sit flat on top of the panini rather than squeezing the filling out of the side as some models do. It also allows you to cook foods of different thicknesses evenly. The handle is fully heat insulated so it (the handle) remains safe to touch with bare hands no matter how long it has been on.

Not only can it be used to make paninis but you can also use it to cook meat, fish and other breads, this is a very healthy way of cooking as you do not need to put the food in any oil or fat and fat from the food runs away. The non-stick plates mean that it is very easy to clean afterwards, you don't need to scrub at it to get a good result. (Please make sure you don't use any metal or sharp objects on it though as this will damage the non-stick coating)

Another advantage of this particular grill is that it heats up extremely quickly and a thermostat light lets you know that it has got up to temperature.

The users manual is short (only 2 pages of English instructions) but it tells you everything you need to know.

I cannot think of any disadvantages of this product, it really is exactly what I needed in a panini press.
