Looking for something different to put in your kitchen? Looking for something that wuld not look out of place in a kitchen advert then look no further than the FLB295 kettle from Krups. I was drawn in by the polished stainless steel and unique design. The fact that it is made by Krups, a name of quality meant that I had no qualms with paying £40 for this gorgeous kettle when the time came to find a replacement for our rather aged yet trusty kitchen appliance.

The stainless steel outer casing looks lovely if I'm honest yet even with this metallic coating and toghend plastc handle the kettle gives the impression that it will be quite heavy but it is positively lightweight. Even when filled up to the maximum levels with one and a half litres of water it s easy to hold and handle when making tea and coffee. The position of the spout is also really well thougt out and spillage is a thing of the past, a good feature considering the potential dangers of scalding and burns.

Operation is not come kind of mental challenge, the lid is opened using the push button on the top and water is boiled using the on/off switch located conveniently at the base just below the handle. The water viewing window that makes up the bottom section of the kettle is quite useful if you like watching water boil. As it doesn't light up like some other kettles so it is quite difficult to see anything other than a few bubbles. Regardless of this, the 3kw fast boil means that by the time you have strained to see the water boiling it has already happened. A full kettle of water takes no longer than 3 minutes from cold to boil and I think this is really impressive. Just before our old kettle died it would take at least 5-6 minutes for the same amount of water to boil.

Like most kettles nowadays, the filament is concealed so that any limescale build up doesn't attach itself to the actual filament which can make cleaning a nightmare. We have only cleaned the kettle once and I found it tricky because my hand was too big to fit into the inside of the water compartment.

I'm pleased with my purchase and stand by my assertion that Krups make the best kettles around. Long may it continue to boil.
