It is cordless and the base has a safely short electric cord. Automatic shut-off when it boils, of course, limescale filter on the spout. A feature which was new to me was the protective cover attached to the lid which blocks off the spout when the lid is set to "lock". ... ...are the looks and the Krups reputation. So if you're all still with me, this is the best bit. My kettle didn't work properly! The on/off switch was "squidgy" and often would not function at all, and the lid with its above-mentioned protective cover was a struggle to fit. However, full marks to Krups. Rather than trek back to the shop where I bought it, I dealt with Krups customer service on-line. They only asked that I send back the base unit and ...

This is my first Krups appliance. I bought this one in John Lewis last year for £42 when I was looking for a new kettle. I noticed that most kettles these days are chrome or white or stainless steel. My last kettle was metal and a nightmare to keep looking pristine so this time I wanted something different.
Of all the models I saw, this one stood out. I always trust John Lewis as they hand pick the bottom, middle and top of the range of most appliances ... ...from the plug to the base is also quite short - so this is another good safety feature.
I bought this kettle becuase it was a bit different from all the others that looked the same, and Krups is obviously a good brand and supplier of high quality products. ...
