Krups FNF245 Orchestro

Advantages: Brilliant, so simple to use, great value for money

...and worked well. They were either too noisy, dripped after making a coffee or just didn't hit the mark. So on to eBay! We were able to buy the Krups machine for £170, a much reduced price than we'd seen (some shops were selling it second hand for over £250!). So, once we had the machine in out hands it was time to test it! Appearance The machine looks so professional. It is very stylish in black and chrome, with selection buttons running down the left side, a strength indicator (use this function to make a café Americano, lattes, espressos etc). The right hand side has the milk frother/steamer. The drip tray is located underneath the nozzle and has 2 holes for the drips to go directly into the tray beneath (rather than getting the silver plate manky!). Advantages: Ease of use, perfect coffee, great for frothing milk.
Disadvantages: Hard to use a mug for coffee

...Was looking for a "normal" coffee machine (can't spell capucinno) - see, and checked out the Nespresso macines - quite by accident. Easy to use, great coffee and great choice !! No mess either. At first I was not impressed by the cost of the capsules (64c each) but after talking about other machines / grinders / clean up / bar pressure / timing and practice I was dubious I could produce the "great coffee I enjoyed at my local shops. I knew the Nespresso tasted great and I knew I could do it myself - everytime!!! THAT WAS WORTH 64c each time. Come to think of it - at my friends houses with coffee machines - none of them are really THAT nice a cup of coffee. Advantages: Amazingly frothy milk
Disadvantages: problems with espresso filter

...I am incredibly displeased with my Novo 2100 espresso maker which I bought in January 2003. I have had 2 Krups espresso machines in the past, which served me reasonably well, but not only does this Novo 2100 not work, but it has also become downright dangerous. At first it worked fine, but since April it has been malfunctioning. Instead of the coffee running smoothly through the filter, it sprays and spatters hot coffee with a radius of up to 1 yard. A few times when I have been too close to the machine the hot coffee or water was sprayed on my clothes, on my face and even in my eyes and I have ended up scalding my hand. I even considered contacting BBC watchdog and asking them to recall the Krups 2100 as this fault could have serious consequences.... Read review
