There is nothing better than a hot cup of coffee as soon as I step into work. We are all coffee addicts so we formed a coffee club whereby we all clubbed together to buy a cofee machine and we try new and exciting blends on a weekly basis. After spending £40 on beans, we all decided that the choice of machine was quite irrelevnt as far as taste was concerned and so we bought a fairly cheap Krups F MD2 95 for £30.

Made from black strengthened plastic the first impressions we all had when we opened it was that we should have gone for a chrome effect coffee maker. It looks bulky, dull and very plain. Brushing the looks aside, it is very functional and easy to use and this is where it redeems itself and has over the past week weeks led to much back patting with self congratulation at picking up such a bargain.

The controls are basic, a simple power switch and a start/stop button. Once the power has been switched on, the bottom plate that keeps the coffee in the pot hot starts to warm in preparation for the coffee to come. The top opens easily into two sections and the filter swings out making it a breeze to insert and remove filters. Cleaning is also a doddle.

The reservior holds enough water for 10 cups but when totally filled it take 20 minutes for a full pot to be made. We usually use enough water for 5 mugs to cut down on time and the quality ever time we use it is superb.

It may look plain and dull but the Krups F MD2 95 is an amazing little coffee maker.
