...I never thought I'd get so excited about a coffee machine! I love coffee and would never have been keen on instant and have always been a bit of a coffee snob! On holiday recently our hotel room had a nespresso coffee machine and I gave it a go, in about 30 seconds I had a perfect espresso that I would happily buy in any coffee shop. As soon as we got home, I went looking for a nespresso machine and came across the Siemens Essenza. It is so simple to use, switch it on, lift a lever, pop in a coffee pod and push a button....hey presto, a hot tasty espresso in seconds!
Nespresso pods are only available from Nespresso Club online or if you have a nespresso boutique near you, you can go into their store and taste the different varieties before you buy. The pods are around 25 pence each. I don't live near a nespresso store so I ordered...

...Krups XN 2005 NespressoEssenza
Preparing a real espresso involves a special extraction procedure. In this procedure water is forced at high pressure through a fine blend of ground coffee and as a result, the flavours and aromas are quickly extracted. This procedure is difficult unless the correct machine is used and this is where the Krups machine is one of the best, as it takes the difficulty out of making an espresso.
This is one of many machines that use the Nespresso Pods, this are small pods which fit into the machine, they are full of coffee and are at the heart of the process.
The Machine
When I open the box the first thing I noticed was the weight, it is a very sturdy and well-built machine measuring 300*170*270mm. The machine has a 1.3 litre water container, which is neatly hidden away at the back; the front...

...Was looking for a "normal" coffee machine (can't spell capucinno) - see,
and checked out the Nespresso macines - quite by accident.
Easy to use, great coffee and great choice !! No mess either.
At first I was not impressed by the cost of the capsules (64c each) but after talking about other machines / grinders / clean up / bar pressure / timing and practice I was dubious I could produce the "great coffee I enjoyed at my local shops.
I knew the Nespresso tasted great and I knew I could do it myself - everytime!!! THAT WAS WORTH 64c each time.
Come to think of it - at my friends houses with coffee machines - none of them are really THAT nice a cup of coffee.
After a little thought over a nice skinny latte I realised it is all about the taste - Nespresso had it !!! Simple.
There were several machines BUT the Krups 897 had...
