Now listen to me! Krups is a great brand usually. I have to admit that I have never owned a Krups machine but my friend Raymond owns one. I went to his house the other night and he made me a cup of coffee. But here’s the catch: he took an hour to complete the task. He was up to his eyeballs in coffee powder, beans of various sorts, homunculi (as he calls them, really they’re just ornaments) and boiling water. You may be about to scream “but this ... ...I say is this: the Krups machine is not ‘espresso’ it is ‘decellerando’ (which in italian means to slow down). The coffee is great, yes, but to be honest it takes far too long. The finish is stylish, though…it pumps the water, boils it up and bingo! Barrah! Coffee waiting to enliven you… hurrah.

Advantages: quick, clean Disadvantages: automatic milk frother doesn't deliver what it promises
This was my second nespresso machine (first was a gaggia - got rid of it cos it kept breaking down, but that's another story). The man at Harrods persuaded me to get this one instead because it made fantastic cappuccino. And he was right! The milk frother was fantastic and I was in second heaven. For about 20 cappuccinos. Then it gave up the ghost and produced warm, flat milk. After several long and frustrating conversations with the Nespresso people ... ...and drop off service with a fairly crappy but serviceable replacement coffee machine (not a Krups) to keep you going. My machine was duly delivered, made one good cappuccino..........and, you've guessed it, reverted back to warm milk. I am fed up. I am again in negotiation with Nespresso. I am not optimistic.
I notice that Nespresso are now producing a dedicated mild frothing machine which does nothing else but froth milk. It is my suspicion that ...
