Advantages: prevent staining nappies, make poo disposal easier Disadvantages: consumable
...Nappyliners are more or less an essential extra when using cloth nappies but it really depends on your personal preferences and how 'ecofriendly' you want to be. There are several different types of liners you can choose from. Basically a liner is just a sheet of paper or fabric that acts as a one way layer which allows wee to pass through, catches poo for easier poo disposal and to keep baby's bottom dry. Nappyliners should not be confused with boosters which are far increasing absorbancy although to confuse matters you can buy boosters which have a liner attached!
Paper liners are my choice of preference. You should choose brands which are biodegradable and flushable and will not block your toilet. Flushing paper liners is not recommended for older toilet systems. My favourite liners are the Ultra liners by Little Green Earthlets...

...Kushies Ultras are and all in one reusable nappy with the waterproof layer built in. They have a velcro strap which is similar to a disposable. You can use a nappyliner with this nappy which works on a one way basis, as to not allow the wetness to linger on baby's bum.
Kushies Ultras are an awarding winning reusable nappy, winning such awards as 'best baby buy' Mother and baby magazine gold award, prima baby best buy, babyGear magazine silver award and prima baby best value award.

Advantages: Save Money, help avoid nappy rash, environmentally good, padding helps baby to sit up!!!! Disadvantages: Increase washing and no birth to potty system, very padded, big intial investment

They are certainly very easy to use, there is no wrapper, the whole thing is one unit which has velcro fixers like a normal disposable nappy. The outer part is waterproof and the inner is made up of cotton flannelette 2 layers of polyester/rayon. This makes them very soft, but very bulky. Which is actually quite handy when Baby starts to try sitting up!
You can buy disposable liners to put in the nappies the idea is that they stop the poos going through to the nappy, we tried a few of these and no matter how "soft" the manufacturers say they are, they all seemed...
