I know it's a corny title, but I happen to think that all in all, you probably can't.
I needed to go to Kwik Fit this morning becasue I had a puncture and the garage that takes care of my car has an arrangement with them- they do the tyres and exhausts and my gareage does the servicing. Seems fine to me.
So off I went. Luckily it is Monday today and I knew that it might not be too busy- and I was right. Saturdays get very busy and I wouldn't really recommend just calling in unless oyu are very early and don't mind leaving your car there until they fix it- perhaps you have some shopping to do. That's a sensible thing to do unless you are fascinated by cars- which I'm not.
WHAT IT'S LIKE
You go to reception and there's a little waiting area with seats and a coffee machine and some magazines, and a big plate glass window that you can look through to see how your car is. It looks onto the workshops with the ramps that you drive your car onto for the mechanic to lift up (electronically) so he can walk underneath it and see your rusting exhaust..or whatever!
YOu are better phoning in advance on busy days to get your car an appointment if you want some tyres or a battery, or brakes or exhausts (those are the main things they fit) But they do other things like services if you ask.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Is very good- the man behind the counter is usually very polite as are the mechanics who buzz around doing all the jobs. They even let you see what they are doing to your car if you ask.
I wasn't there very long at all today- I got there at 11.45 and was out by 12.20, with 2 new tyres, fitted, balanced and everything. The man behind the desk phoned the leasing company to get permission to fit 2 new tyres before they did it.
The mechanic mentioned that I should get my brakes changed at the next service- I was surprised that he didn't try to sell me some there and then- I have heard that these types of establishments do that- but he didn't!
PRICES
Very good if you go for the offers that they have ..you can often get 4 tyres for £60..and i think that's brilliant. Of course it depends upon the type you have fitted and the size .
The ones they fitted today were Michelin..Michelin tyres are a bit expensive -£149 for 2 including VAT..If I'd had to pay I wouldn't have gone for these!
Exhausts are also not vastly expensive. On my last car I had a full system fitted for £75. And I didn't get fleeced, either- when I looked under the car my old one really was rotten!
They do their own finance thingy- AUTO SAVE CARD if you spend over a given amount of money, you get so many days interest free- sorry I haven't got more details but I didn't need it today...but I have used the facility when I had a service there and found it to be a good way to pay- if you pay within so many days you don't pay the interest, I think.
Anyway, next time you need new bits for your car..tyres or an exhaust if you are blowing a bit...try out Kwik Fit. You'll be kicking yourself if you find out that you could have got it better!!!
