Advantages: Food high in taste but low on price. Disadvantages: They don't deliver, stores can be busy and fruit & veg is pricey.
Kwik Save is the saviour of our family. It allows us to eat well and within a tight budget. The stores themselves are always well stocked and the range of stock and specials seem to change every time I get there but they usually keep the same old products we buy every week but it can be a nightmare to find them out of stock because there is usually quite a rise in price if you have to choose premium brands instead.
As well as the usual freezer shopping ... ...are rather pricey) Kwik Save offer budget brands and it is these I will be focusing on in this review.
Before getting married and having three growing kids I was a real food snob but after trying Kwik Save’s budget range of foods I realised that it really is a false economy buying some premium foods just because you see them advertised on TV – who do you think pays for those expensive ads?
Kwik Save has two own Brand Lines, on is the Kwik Save ...

...wide there are hundreads of Kwik save stores, and they have been around for longer than I can or care to remember.
I live in Nottingham where we have several stores, one of which is 5 minutes away from me.
The stores I have been in are all fairly well laid out, with plenty of room to negotiate the isles.
Cleanliness appears however to be much more of a store to store thing, with some I have visited being spotless and others being nothing short of ... ...general locations, near other shops and on good bus routes. The majority of stores also having their own generous car parks.
Stock
This is imediately where they start to fall down.Their range of stock is pretty limited.Tending to have only limited choice of brands and many foods, and hosehold consumables being totally absent from the shelves.
Of the items they do actually stock there are frequent shortages, many shelves being bare no matter when you ...

...brighter and cleaner than the Kwik Save), yet their prices blow the “Kwik Save’s” prices away, with their cheapness.
Choice of goods, well this is about the only decent thing about the “Kwik Save”, they do seem to have a lot of things in stock, but this is probably due to the fact that no-one shops there as much as the other supermarkets.
Summary: Well, as you can guess, I don’t like this shop at all, and you ... ...shop in the nice comfortable and much brighter surroundings of an Asda or Sainsbury’s, etc. It just makes me think, what the hell the “Kwik Save” does with any profits it may make, as they damn sure don’t spend them on shop improvements, so come on “Kwik Save”, come out of the dark ages, and rid us of these glum and depressing excuses for a supermarket, try spending some money on brightening the shops up, and for ...

Advantages: Low prices, friendly staff, pleasant and well organised store Disadvantages: Not enough staff at times
...when those two dreaded words, Kwik and Save, are mentioned. Dirty stores, littered floors and broken trolleys. And yes, I do not mind accepting that in some stores this was, and perhaps still is, the sorry truth. You only have to read other reviews on Ciao to see just how negative the overall opinion of the UK's longest established "discounter" really is. But either the entire nation is wrong, or our local Kwik Save is bucking the national trend. ... ...Until pretty recently Kwik Save Wigton Road was entirely alike to any other branch in the country - same colours, same layout, same design. But about a month ago I walked in to collect a few odds and ends, unsuspecting of what I was about to experience. I first realised something was not quite right having parked the car and walked to collect a trolley. I had my pound coin at the ready, but was somewhat taken aback to find that I now had the option ...

Advantages: Much improved, branded goods at lower prices Disadvantages: Not that much cheaper
...worked absolute magic with the Kwik Save chain.
About two years ago, Somerfield, in a deal that heavily damaged it's own profits and the companies overall resistance from take-over merchants such as Wal-Mart, bought the chain of dirty, worn out and tired looking Kwik Save stores.
But, after a good 7 years of declining sales, delapidated and out-dated stores, and bored looking staff with an awful uniform, Kwik Save has avoided that grave of bankrupcy ... ...have never really shopped at Kwik Save, or more commonly known as ''the Kwikie'', but huge refits and new ranges including an own brand range, have made me come to realise, 'Kwik Save is actually OK'.
~The Store~
I actually have two Kwik Save stores that I regularly visit. They are Penny Lane Neighbourhood Centre, by Sgt. Peppers, Penny Lane,South Liverpool and Aigburth Road, Aigburth,South Liverpool. These stores were both earmarked to become ...

Advantages: The offers are amazing Disadvantages: Not a wide range of choice
...A Netto has recently opened near my house, replacing a kwiksaveshop and from the reviews that i have read, i decided i should let you know my view on the shop.
I believe that the shop is amazing, it doesn't have the same bad reputation as kwiksave as when it was a kwiksave i never went there. Although this shop is as cheap it seems to be tidier, with respect of the staff that they employee now and the different types of customers that now attend there.
The isles are large and spacious, in fact much larger than other shops. Most of the items are well known brands and other brands which are unknown still taste very nice, although there aren't many brands that i do not know. The offers that they advertise are always in the stores, have been to the store a few days after an offer has began and there are still plenty there...

...and stuck to it. Sainsburys and Safeway apparantly aimed for the upmarket clientele; Asda joined the 'stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap'ranks, Somerfield dropped its image as a supermarket and adopted a mini-mart type approach; Iceland moved in on the disabled and those too lazy to shop by savagely promoting it's online shopping service and KwikSave clung to its reputation as a cheap store, whilst seperating itself from the likes of Aldi, Netto and Lidl.
Tesco is now the UK's leading supermarket - to my utter astonishment. As stated above, its competitors all seem to have their own place in the market - but where does Tesco come in? As far as I can see (and do bear in mind that I am judging by my two local branches only) it just has nothing that makes it stand out over the rivals.
For clarity's sake I will split my main findings from...

Advantages: local supermarket Disadvantages: ONLY local supermarket
...My local safeway is the only local supermarket in our town, Lockerbie, to shop elsewhere is a journey of at least 12 miles, to Dumfries. We did have another supermarket, Kwik-save, but they closed and the shop was bought by safeway and left to rot.
The prices are higher in our local safeway to the one in the nearest big town. How can they justify that? Easy, they have to deliver to the store and it costs more to deliver here than to the larger store in Dumfries. Which puzzles me as Lockerbie is much closer to the motorway than Dumfries. Also, because the shop is smaller than the Dumfries store it costs more to operate???? Still trying to work that one out.
The staff are local people, and if you live in a small town you will know what I mean here, so they are either very friendly and helpful or totally unfriendly and unhelpful...
