If you want to guarantee that I never deal with you - just tell me lies. That's how Kwik-Fit made sure they would never sell me insurance for anything.
Just as I was getting ready to go out one evening I got a call from Kwik-Fit offering to sell me car insurance. My insurance was due so I gave him a few minutes as requested. The guy kept me on the phone for ages taking and checking and double checking details, gave me a quote of £217 that I said was too expensive, and then immediately reduced it by around 10% to about £196 after "speaking to his supervisor". The new quote seemed reasonable so I asked him to put it in writing and I would give it my due consideration. "Sorry," he said, "but I can only make this offer if you accept it now. If you have it in writing it will be at the £217 price."
I never buy anything as a result of cold calls - be it at the door or on the phone, I never buy anything sight unseen, and I never submit to pressure sales tactics such as once only offers because there is ALWAYS a catch. Not usually - ALWAYS. I told him to send it anyway, hung up and went out (late). Surprise, surprise, when the quote arrived it was for £196 - the guy had tried to con me and had therefore ensured that I will never, ever deal with that company again.
