I really love perfume. It is the highlight of any Christmas being bought more, but it has to be said I have rather boring tastes. You almost get stuck in a rut with buying the same perfume year in year out. Initially for me that perfume was Dior Addict. Yes the scent was a bit heavy, but it was a long lasting flowery smell which I adored. However, I came to university and the opportunity to buy perfume became rather non-existent. Last Christmas my boyfriend, hearing my cry of lack of perfume, invested in Thierry Mugler Angel, which was another favourite of mine. The last bottle I had ran out last week, so off I went to buy more, but when I got to Boots the price shocked me. So, in a brave step I decided to broaden my perfume horizons and branch out into something else. My choice this time was Kylie Minogue 'Sweet Darling.'

I was always set against buying celebrity presumes, after all, they are celebrities not perfumers. However, 'Sweet Darling' is beautiful. With quite a heavy flowered scent it is what can only be described as a happy smell. It smells as sweet as the packaging suggests. For only £22.99 for both 75ml vaporised bottle and body lotion at Superdrug the price to me seems very reasonable. I can imagine this will last me quite some time as the scent is strong so not many applications will be needed during the day (I am a girl who literally swims in perfume some days!)

So, what attracted me to Kylie Minogue's new perfume rather than going back to an old favourite? This may sound daft but the packaging initially caught my eye. The box is a lovely pink laminated design, again of flowers. On the reverse is a picture of Kylie Minogue with a little handwritten 'Darling, with love, Kylie.' in the bottom corner. Yes, I found this a little corny, but hey it's the scent you buy a perfume for, not the slightly tacky packaging. The bottle is in the same pink colour as the box, with a large square black lid. What I love about the bottle is it fits perfectly into the palm of the hand. It is not a difficult shape to spray, like some other brands that I can think of. I once had a bad experience where I was applying perfume but I had difficulty actually getting a grip on the bottle. I pressed the vaporiser at the top and sprayed myself directly in the eye. I spent the rest of the day in extreme pain, so from then on I always look at the bottle! It sounds like a very daft reason, but a reason none the less.

So, would I buy again? Most definitely yes, for £22.99 it is well worth making a purchase. This would be a perfume to wear both day and night, multipurpose it could be said. I particularly liked the fact that this is not a well publicised scent, but one appeared on the market without me actually having read anything about it. This meant I bought it on its own merit as a perfume, rather than because it has been brought out by Kylie Minogue. This is a seriously good buy for anyone who likes a strong, sweet scent that is particularly long lasting. I am extremely pleased I decided to stop being boring and try something new…rather than sticking with what I already knew.
