Last year for my birthday, I received a bottle of Kylie Minogue's first edition 'Darling' perfume. It had such a refreshing, glorious scent that I used it almost every day! Unfortunately, this resulted in it running out quite quickly, and I was left with an empty bottle - I was far from pleased! It was to my delight this Christmas when I opened up a present from my Dad, and revealed a brand new bottle of Miss Minogue's newer 'Sweet Darling'!
Packaging
The first thing I saw when I unwrapped my gift was, inevitably, the box it came in. As this was the point when I made my first impression, it was important that the box was appealing, to give me positive thoughts on the fragrance from stage one. The first thing I saw was the black top. This gave me no indication as to what I was unveiling. As I slowly peeled away the wrapping paper though, I could see a glimmer of lilac, and a shimmer of pink. Still, it had not dawned upon me what it was. Once I had plucked the box completely out of the paper, my eyes lit up in glee. Before me was an incredibly glamorous-looking box, very shiny and appealing! The main shades were quite girly, a rainbow of pinks and purples, with a glittery feel to them. Written across in a silvery lilac italic font were the words 'Kylie Minogue - Sweet Darling'. As soon as I read it, I suddenly became even more overjoyed! Perfect timing - I was needing new perfume! I turned over the box, and on the back I noticed an image of Kylie had been placed. She looked stunning, sitting there all dressed in white! She certainly did look like she was proud to put her name to this fragrance!
With its dark black outline and its stunning metallic front, the tough cardboard box that the perfume comes in keeps it well protected, and makes it look attractive, even when it is hidden away!
The Bottle
As dazzling as the packaging looked, I don't tend to keep my perfumes and fragrances in their boxes; they are arranged in order of size on top of my jewellery box (though I have an awful lot now, they may need to be moved!), each little bottle showing off its unique style. Sweet Darling was definitely a gem in this collection! After all my gifts were unwrapped and everything was neatly laid across the dining table, I began to sort everything out, removing items from their containers and own packages. When it came to revealing the Kylie perfume bottle, I had a rough idea of what it was going to look like, because of my previous fragrances. It was not much different; the shape was the same, but the way the colours of the bottle interlocked had changed. The shape of the bottle is different to the others in my current collection. It's more long than tall, my 30ml bottle being about the size of my palm. It has quite a unique shape - the only way I can describe it is by saying it looks like thighs! The original Darling perfume bottle was transparent almost, with just a hint of colour. This one is much cloudier, opaque almost, but the colours are still similar; a selection of perfect pinks and purples. The lid of the bottle is square and shiny, in a reflecting black colour. It's easy to remove, whilst at the same time it remains tight on the spray to protect it! In all, I find this bottle very cute and attractive, with its stumpy yet sparkly style! It looks perfect alongside my other bottles, and really stands out!
Fragrance
As important as packaging and presentation are, when it comes down to perfumes, the most necessary feature is the scent! I mean, who would buy a perfume that looked amazing, if the spray itself absolutely reeked? Fortunately, I can give high amount of praise to the Sweet Darling scent! Believe it or not, this perfume has a sweet fragrance (!). Closing my eyes, I squirted the dainty silver spray, making sure it was facing away from me before I did so! The scent was so strong, it hit me straight away, not needing time to infiltrate. In my mind, images of Spring meadows started to form - the delicious aroma like that of flowers, elegant and soft. It smelled so amazing, like no other perfume I had owned.
When comparing it to Kylie' other 'Darling' fragrance, there is no denying that it is much more feminine than the other; more gentle and welcoming. Although it is quite strong, it is easy and flowing. The other is a lot more fruity and fresh. This one has a muskier base to it.
Sweet Darling certainly ticks all the right boxes when it comes down to the seductive aroma trapped inside its bottle!

Kylie Minogue
I thought I should say a bit about the wonderful Kylie in this review, as she is such an inspiration, and her perfume is as fantastic as she is! Kylie was born in Australia in May of 1968. She went on to star in Aussie soap 'Neighbours', before pursuing her career in the pop world. In 1987, Kylie released her first single, 'Locomotion', which went straight to number one. Since that amazing kick-start to her music career, she has had nine hit albums, and a whopping forty three singles, all successful! Unfortunately, bad things happen to good people, and the Pop Princess was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2005. On a happier note though, she managed to fight her way through this, proving the wonder that she is! The original Darling perfume was released in 2006, and she publishes her book around the same time. Most recently, after a successful Showgirl Tour, Kylie could be seen on our screens on Christmas Day, starring in the Doctor Who special as Astrid. With such marvellous talents, Kylie is still going strong after an incredible journey, and I can only hope there is a lot more to come from her!

Price
Some fragrances and sprays can be extortionately priced, which can be incredibly off-putting when making a purchase! I cannot see the point in paying loads of money for perfume, considering it's going to run out eventually! As my bottle was a present, I don't know exactly how much my Sweet Darling cost, but after a quick browse on the good old internet, I managed to find a few varies in prices for the 30ml bottle…
So it seems it's cheapest from Superdrug, though if you pay that extra 55p, you would get 76 points on your Boots Advantage Card!
Would I Recommend?
This is quite a feminine, girly fragrance, and there is no question when it comes to recommendations! If you like smelling friendly and sweet, then this is most definitely a fragrance for you! Though the Darling fragrance is nice, I'd say this one suits my personality more, reflecting a light and easy spirit. And if it's not your cup of tea, I can also recommend this as a gift for others, the sets are not overly priced, and will leave anybody smelling glorious!
***** I don't think I would have selected this perfume myself if I was out shopping, but now I have it in my collection alongside my others, I have a strong feeling it will not last very long! With its extremely glamorous and attractive bottle, mixed with its heavenly sweet feminine scent, Kylie Minogue's Sweet Darling fragrance has become one of my favourites and I will most likely be purchasing it again!
