Advantages: Extremely User Friendly Disadvantages: The "BEEP" when you confirm a scan
...This Symbol SPT 1550 is the best scanner around in an area flooded with similar products. This device is extremely lightweight compared to its competitors and ease of use is second to none. The scanner itself allows you to read barcode labels with extreme ease some scanners on the market ensure you have to be right next to the barcode for it to register but with the Symbol SPT 1550 it allows you to scan from a distance and scan hard to reach barcodes. The product also has touch screen GUI making it extremely user friendly the further you venture into the menus and sub menus you can never get lost due to the aptly named home icon.In terms of memory for this device i once scanned 1200 items in an initial audit i was doing and it had no problems in terms of slowing up....

Advantages: Small, long battery life, easy to create software Disadvantages: small memory (250 scanned max)
...If you are looking for an inexpensive barcodescanner with the ability to keep track of just about anyhting with a barcode, then this is the product for you. This item works great in a small buisness environment when value needs to be high for all cash investments.
Symbol provides excellent software packages that can be used to create custom software packages that can interact with just about any Microsoft product and database. it is a bit challenging if you have no idea how to program. Skills in VB would be very helpful but the Symbol website has a huge section for developers.
The unit is easy to use and very light to carry.
The only negative aspect is that is has a small memory. You need to sync the device after scanning 250 items....

Advantages: Ease of Use, Speed and quality Disadvantages: Size of footprint
...Have had the FX1000+ and decided to retire it in favour of this one.
It has excellent speed and the internal proc does a lot for it. The quality as you would expect from Kyocera is excellent colour photographs come out excellent in B/W. An excellent machine for the office or home with crisp clear copies all of the time. Speed for copies is excellent to at an advertised 14 ppm, it certainly reaches this.
My problem with this one, as with the last is the size of the machine, however, you can ignore this because of the 2 year warranty, which means you have no probs with drum replacement in that time - great. Toner refills are on a par with other manufacturers and are easy to change.
A good buy if you can spare the extra money....

--How does it look?--
It’s basically a large, beige cube with four little indicator lights on the top. It is split into three sections; the top section is where the printed paper comes out, the middle section houses the toner, lets you feed sheets of... more
