I have purchased this camera very recently for the absolute bargain price of £250. It was on a one day special at my local camera shop 'Jacobs'. This price is unbelievable since the cheapest I can find it on the net is at least £270, and in most shops retails for £330 plus. It is a modern camera, and appears to have been launched around jan 03.
Features: having researched a new camera for weeks, this had everything I could possibly want.
-Small and compact and extremely sturdy and well made. It will last! unlike some flimsy digicams around.
-5mpix, previously unheard of around these prices. Enables prints up to A3 looking very sharp.
-Fantastic zoom, 3x optical, 4x digital. Optical wont spoil quality of pics, so is very useful, however digital zoom as you may know, lessens the quality of the pixels, but since this is a 5mpix cam, it works great.
-Macro feature for extreme close ups from around 12cm.
-long life rechargeable battery
-video at 320 - 240 with sound, for 30 sec clips.
-tft screen special daybright technology.
-includes 16mb SD card which is pretty hopeless really, will only take about 7 photos on best quality. Get at least a 128mb SD or MMC card from ebuyer costing no more than £28.
-Looks gorgeous, feels great.

This camera has a more advanced younger brother, the S5R. This retails at around £400, and the only difference i can see having compared them is new r-tune technology enabling the S5R to take 3 images per second at the highest resolution, and video capture at 640 - 480. Other than that, the camera shell is the same, but has been dressed up a bit, with shinier dials and buttons. This to me is good but not yet worth the extra dosh, making this camera the out and out best buy at the moment, for me.
The criteria I looked at was only satisfied by this camera and the pentax optio S, another amazing camera which my brother owns. I opted for this due to the higher resolution 5mpix against 3.4 (optio s) and 4.3 (optio s4).
An all round excellent camera, made by a highly ingenuitive and reputable camera maker Kyocera, that have recently merged with Yashica another high quality camera co.
