Kyocera ROM (Page description language) - Adobe PostScript Level 2

...I bought first Kyocera FS 5030N for my company at February 2007. After six months we own another four of those. It shows how satisfied I am with quality of that product. First quick description. It's medium speed (24 pages per minute), color (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, blacK), laser printer with network interface (letter N on the end of a product name). It prints with same speed for B/W and color documents. Maximum print resolution is 600x600dpi. It warms up in 80sec from power on, time to first page is 12sec. Inside sits processor PowerPC 750FX/600MHz with 128MB RAM, expandable to 1024MB. It has smallest footprint (35x47x39cm) in its class. Offers very easy access to toners and waste toner tank. Advantages: Outstanding Value for Money, Free USB Key Offer
Disadvantages: Entry level model, lack of USB cable

..., 1 installation manual, 1 printer driver CD Rom, 1 power cable. No USB cable, ah problem, on closer examination the box does state that the USB cable is not included. So it was off to the local computer parts shop and £5 later I return USB cable in hand, incidentally I am lead to believe that it has become standard practice amongst manufacturers not to include USB cables and indeed parallel cables where they are still made. Now to the fun of installation, quick thumb through the installation manual, it’s quite idiot proof with big easy to understand pictures and instruction, and indeed the only challenging thing is finding the five pages of English in a hundred pages of other languages, luckily as with most things these are the first five. Advantages: Excellent paper handling, easy installation, reliable.
Disadvantages: Expensive toner cartridges, occasional black dots when printing.

...I have is that if you print a large block area of black, then the black can look a little grainy when held up to the light. Most people would not notice this, however, and it is a minor quibble indeed. Also, if you tended to print a lot of large block areas of black, you would use the toner up very quickly indeed so there is not much call for it! SPEED The HL-1440 has a stated speed of 14 pages per minute, which is realistically achievable. Both the Brother printers have been much quicker than the Kyoceras, though I haven't noticed much difference between the HL-1250 (with a stated 12 pages per minute) and the HL-1440. SOUND LEVEL The Brothers are both very quiet machines. My telephone is right next to the printer, and I can easily hold a conversation with the machine going at full stretch.
