...inkjets on quality. I set the inkjet to print at 1440dpi and sent a page to print to the Kyocera and loaded the same paper into both. When I compared the two print outs, there really was no difference and I would even say the laser beat the inkjet on consistency.
We now split the printing of our reports so that anything with black ink only is printed by the Kyocera, while anything colour is printed to our inkjet. No-one has ever noticed the difference in quality page to page, so I think 600dpi maximum offered on this printer is more than sufficient.
Toner/Running Costs
As many of you will know, one huge advantage laser printers have over ink jet is not only the speed at which they can print but also their running costs. I’ve found the toner to be generally very economically priced. One toner cartridge is approximately £30 ex VAT...

Advantages: Very reliable, low cost per page Disadvantages: None
...I bought first Kyocera FS 5030N for my company at February 2007. After six months we own another four of those. It shows how satisfied I am with quality of that product.
First quick description.
It's medium speed (24 pages per minute), color (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, blacK), laser printer with network interface (letter N on the end of a product name). It prints with same speed for B/W and color documents. Maximum print resolution is 600x600dpi.
It warms up in 80sec from power on, time to first page is 12sec. Inside sits processor PowerPC 750FX/600MHz with 128MB RAM, expandable to 1024MB.
It has smallest footprint (35x47x39cm) in its class. Offers very easy access to toners and waste toner tank. Each toner stands for printing 8k pages (in lab conditions of course, in real those numbers highly depends on average page coverage), which...

--Price--
You can buy the FS1010 for about £200. It puts it down at the cheaper end of the Laser printer scale but the cheapness doesn’t hide a lack of quality.
--Cartridge Cost--
We can buy our cartridge (TK-17) for £46 from our supplier and according to the manufacturer it will last for about 5,000-6,000 sheets, which works out at an extremely cheap 0.0092p-0.007p per sheet. We use the printer mainly for producing very wordy letters which increases the ink usage and reduces the pages to about 3,000 per cartridge (0.015p per sheet).
--Online Support--
Kyocera has a very comprehensive UK-based website which provides a lot of information on each of their products, including where to buy, cartridge costs etc. It has a support helpdesk...
