I was sixteen when I first started wearing glasses. Discovering that I actually needed glasses was a weird and uplifting experience that I will never forget. I It was a lovely, hot summer day and I was in the park with my friend, who was just off to the optician to have her annual check-up. I didn't realise she even wore glasses, she had kept it a secret for ... ...them on for a laugh. And the results were amazing. I could see! The sky looked bluer, the details on people's faces were clearer and I could see every blade of grass. It was an amazing and bizarre experience. I realised then that I needed to have an eye test. I've been wearing either glasses or contact lenses ever since. Initially I just wore my glasses for driving, however, my sight has got progressively worse until it reached the point that I couldn't ...

...surgery. I was told that LASEK was more beneficial and safer than LASIK, which seemed to be the more popular method at the time. Not only did she recommend the method – she recommended the centre as well!
DEFINITIONS
A potted clarification, if you will: PRK was invented by the Russians in the 80s. In this method a small layer of skin on the eye’s surface (the epithelium) is scraped off and discarded. The eye’s curvature is then reshaped with a ... ...is left there to heal. LASEK (LAser aSsisted Epithelial Keratomileusis) is among the latest methods of laser eye surgery. This method is very similar to PRK yet simply uses a solution of alcohol to weaken the epithelium which is scraped back, but not discarded. The eye recovers faster than it would under PRK as a result, which allows the patient back to work sooner. I am told it also reduces the risk of scarring and resultant visual problems, which ...

...images on the TV. I could not believe it. I could see!! I must admit at this point I cried.
Since that day my eyes have become better and better and it takes about a month for your eyes to fully settle down to their new settings.
I now have 20/20 vision and have been so for 9 months and I have never looked back (pardon the pun)
Things to Consider
Lasik Surgery

The procedure involves cutting a thin layer of the Cornea (about the thickness of a human hair) and lasering underneath the surface. Results expected the same day and very little pain afterwards.

Anyway it was Lasek that they had chosen as being the suitable and after all by questions had been answered and I was still sure I was ready for this, I signed a consent form to say that I understood what was a bout to take place and it was off into the pre-treatment room. I will just say that the technical bit that follows may only be fully relevant to Lasek treatment, but the general content of the review will serve as an overview of the company and its professionalism.
PRE-TREATMENT
Considering that you are about to have your eyes reshaped, the pre-treatment is simple and totally painless. The anaesthetic used is in the form of eye drops and at no point do you feel...

...my eyes. For the most part, I was quite happy wearing spectacles although they are incredibly inconvenient at times – sports, in the rain etc, but it was one day at the beach when I realised that I could not identify my 2 year old son if he was more than 30 feet away and that got me thinking about having laser eyesurgery again.
The Research
During my initial research, I was pleased to discover that the advances in laser eyesurgery have been significant. PRK is still available – primarily in an enhanced form known as LASEK which reduces the recovery time to days or a couple of weeks. Far more interesting was a technique known as LASIK. The major benefits for me seemed to be an instant recovery and NO PAIN.
I spent three or four weeks researching a number of sites on the web. There is a tremendous amount of information out there...
