As I'm writing this review, Im looking at this display screen now as my words appear under a camouflage of finger prints and smudging. I'm currently at my college where I study, and my college has bought over 300 of these screens in recent years. The AG screen is by far one of the cheapest monitor screens for computers you can buy (hence why my college has so many). The screen, although resiliant to the aggresive use of students has so many flaws ...
...buy such a screen. The screen only has to be brushed and smudges appear which take a lifetime to 'work' out. Quite often, the colour contrast settings will abruptly change and you'll be left startled and quite scared as a thousand pixelated colours appear screaming out at you. I have spent my christmas money on this monitor. Looking at its clarity in the store made me decide to go for it. Getting home and taking it out of the box, I was pleased with the way it was protected against knocks and bumps. Plenty of cover over the screen to stop scratches. When I got its base fastened to the screen it was then I realised how heavy it was. It sits nice and firm on the desk. The tilting mechanism works great although a bit tight ...
...I would of licked it to adjust upwards aswell, but for the price its good. A 19 inch wide screen is definatly good for watching movies with. Connecting it up to the computer is with the VGA socket (the blue multi pinned one) and no other one is there so one thing to think about when you buy it. The cable is supplied with the unit though. I have owned one of these for over a year and I'm VERY impressed with this monitor! I think I paid about £120 for it from eBuyer and it's the best monitor I've ever owned. The picture is crisp, clear and wonderfully bright. No dead pixels and the refresh rate is amazing, never a jerk in sight (except when my brother visits... jerk!) With a resolution of 1680x1050 (SWXGA+) it's perfect for widescreen films and playing games you naturally want to ...
...been using it with OpenSUSE 9, 10, and 11 (Linux) and I've had no problem it whatsoever. I haven't tried the sound as I use separate speakers for my audio but I doubt they will boom out thumping bass. However, if they're as good as the screen itself, you shouldn't be too disappointed.
