"Premium" TV/Monitor for a not so "Premium" price
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 730MW by yassarikhan786

Advantages: high quality, TV and radio capabilities, integrated speaker system
Disadvantages: slight chance of experiencing problems with display output.

I have had my Samsung SyncMaster 730 MW for over 3 years now and it has been very reliable over the period of time i have had it. For £300 i got a widescreen 17" high resolution display, with a maximum resolution of 1280x1024 and colour support up to 16.2 million colours (32-bit). In the box you obviously get the monitor, a remote control, essential wires to 1. Connect the monitor to the PC, 2. Connect power to the monitor and 3. To gain access ...
...they will work perfectly as Samsung are very popular and famous for their levels of reliability and customer satisfaction. The one function i have tested is the radio function, which is accessible via the press of a button on the included remote control or via the monitor itself. On the remote control the "radio function" button is located on the top right of the remote control just under the number 9 and on the monitor you will find it directly ... Read review

(I thought it was) An Improvement On My Old Tank!
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 713BM by anonymili

Advantages: Initially it was a huge improvement on my old monitor
Disadvantages: Very poor and slow manufacturer support

...The monitor included was the Samsung SyncMaster 713BM which I'm reviewing here. Firstly this was the first time I'd owned a TFT/LCD monitor at home (have used several at work before now) and I was quite excited about having a monitor which took up less space on my PC workstation, having previously had a Belinea 17inch tank of a monitor (which I won't berate as it gave me good service for a good 5 years or so). TFT means thin film transistor which ...
...in your choice… The Samsung SyncMaster 713BM is a 17 inch TFT LCD monitor which can be wall mounted if required. It weighs about 10lbs (or just over 4 kilos) and offers a native screen resolution of 1280x1024. It has a typical 700:1 high contrast ratio and 300cd/m2 brightness. With a typical 8ms response time the monitor has both analog and digital inputs and also has integrated stereo speakers. It's compatible with Windows, Macintosh and Sun Microsystems ... Read review

Samsung Syncmaster 173p review (SM173P) 17"
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 173P by cheesycal

Advantages: pivot for word documents, excellent image quality, easy calibration, looks stunning
Disadvantages: slightly more expensive than your average 17" LCD

...amazing! I bought the Samsung SM173P around 5 months ago for £230 and although this was quite expensive for the average LCD monitor, the Samsung SM173P is no ordinary LCD!! Firstly, the SM173P is the most aesthetically pleasing monitor I have seen in production at the moment. In all, the design is very minimalist, giving a tidy and sleek feel to the monitor. On the front there is only one solitary silver power on/off button on the right bottom ...
...drastically fell. With the Samsung SM173P, it was only in the extremest angles when I noticed any distortion or reduction in quality. This aspect of the monitor makes SM173P suitable for entertaining friends/family with a DVD or such! The colour/contrast/brightness can be easily calibrated with the software provided called MagicTune. A step-by -step wizard is provided to make it all the more easier so no more fiddling with confusing buttons on the ... Read review

Superb Samsung
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 172 T by ntv650

Advantages: Great picture
Disadvantages: Weak sound.

I have been using this screen for the past year. I purchased it online from Dabs.com for £333. I run it at 1280 x 1024 @ 75Hz using the analogue input. The software tells me that the monitor cannot run at this speed and wants me to use 60Hz. When run at 60Hz the picture has strange lines moving about the screen and is quite annoying. 75Hz the picture is rock steady and extremely clear The viewing angle is excellent, as is the contrast. I have not ...
...to adjust the screen to get a good view. It can be mounted on the wall if required. The screen is very good looking (important to me as the PC is in my lounge) The output from the speakers is very tinny. This does not bother me as I do not watch DVD's or listen to music through them. This suits me as I only need sound for clips found on the Internet. The playback of films on DVD I find is not very good. I find the picture is fuzzy and a little ... Read review

A superb monitor
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 730BF by dav1d89

Advantages: Vivd,crisp colours, no ghosting
Disadvantages: None that i can think of.

After many years using my old CRT i decided to make the leap to TFT and i have never looked back, thanks to this product. I was looking for a reasonably priced TFT screen with a low response time and this monitor seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I play alot of computer games and this low response time means there is little or no ghosting on the screen (when the image tends to blur with fast action), so this is a great monitor for gaming. To set ...
...video cable ( you get a dvi cable and a d-sub one too) from the back of your pc to the monitor and running a (provided) power lead from the monitor to a socket, its that simple and you are off. There was software provided but i didnt use it, it seems to be fine without. The screens native resoultion is 1280x1024 which is very good for casual use and gaming, especially in games, this makes the textures appear alot sharper, therfore improving the ... Read review
