Not Perfect But Worth It
Review of Acer X201W by
Zmugzy
Advantages: Good Value
Disadvantages: There are better monitors out there but you'll have to pay more.
...the purchase of my new Acer was no exception. I work from home and have a few computers on the go. As such I was looking for a simple flat wide TFT screen to replace my Sony CRT monitor that had served me well as a second monitor for one of my older computers. I was also looking for a larger visual work space for using various computer packages such as video editing suites and the like. Good Points
The Acer X201W was a great choice for my basic ... ...open side by side. The Acer X201W supports CrystalBrite, eColor Management technology with the benefits of excellent image performance especially for entertainment and multimedia applications. It has a 5ms response rate which is acceptable for most needs. The screen is certainly bright and crystal clear and I guess I was fortunate not to get any dead pixels. The monitor has a handy set buttons located below the screen that are not too fiddly and ...

Adequate, but not special
Review of Acer AL1916Wds by
antoniosteve
Advantages: Clear image, intuitive menu
Disadvantages: Limited vertical adjustment, large space requirement
...sharp images. As with most Acer monitors, I find their option menus to be more intuitive than most, which is good for avoiding confusion!
Unfortunately, there are a few problems with this product that can limit its value at home. The biggest problem I found were the very large stand bases; being larger than the LG screens I used before, they take up a LOT of desk space - be prepared to have to do some rearranging if you opt for this monitor. They ...

Acer AL1916W
Review of Acer AL1916ws by
hnilesp
Advantages: Easy to use, good quality
Disadvantages: design is a bit dull
Awesome monitor which delivers brilliant picture quality. It's custom made for watching movies and playing computer games as it encompasses a large area within its widescreen. Easy to use because it's plug and play compatible. Power consumption is acceptably low. Occasionally the lines in the screen are visible but that can be ignored since that's the norm with many TFT displays. Easy to the eye to watch images on this monitor. The design is acceptable ...

Good flatscreen monitor for a reasonable price
Review of Acer AL1916WAs by
Ohajiki
Advantages: The price, the resolution, the durability
Disadvantages: Lack of gloss screen for videos and no 'swivel' function
...- As it is acer you get a lot of spec for a reasonable price
- The size is excellent and the resultion is easily adjustable.
- It is fully compatible with multi-screen applications and would be very useful for a multi os or a linux machine.
- It works with all types of computers, not just acer.
- It's max resolution is a large 1440 x 900 although is adjustable to make the texts larger (for the long sighted parental units who brought it in the ... ...Points
- Unlike my acer laptop which has a TFT screen with a glass-like gloss cover, this screen has the traditional matt finish. This means that some of the clarity from a dvd or high-res movie or if you were going to watch television on it. However the matt finish makes word processing a little easier and doesn't show up fingerprints quite so much.
- The screen itself is quite heavy and I'm not convinced the wall mount would hold it up that well ...

A wise choice of widescreen.
Review of Acer AL1916S by
boberto
Advantages: Atractive, Good price, Looks good.
Disadvantages: None
I wanted to replace my old CRT and started to look into which screen to get. Firstly I looked at standerd 4:3 aspect ratio screens but was atracted to widescreens because I could watch movies on it without wasting screen space also the idea of veiwing two windows at once interested me. The only problem I had with widescreens was the price. Most retail at a higher price than normal 4:3 ratio screens. As I looked at the many screens on the internet ... ...seemed to be about £200. I was looking in more the £100-140 range. I eventualy found this screen and another screen by videoseven, a german LCD manufacturer. Both had the same spec (which is shown on this site) but this one is much more atractive. This one is neat and central whereas the one by videoseven has the buttons bown one side and is strangly shaped like a mint credit card! Anyway with the item I wanted and the right price I went ahead and ...
