Hitachi CML174SXWB
Advantages: Sleak, Stylish, Excellent for Gaming, DVI Out. Disadvantages: None. You get what you pay for.
I took a great deal of time before buying this TFT researching items that were excellent for gaming - and this is certainly what I got!
I have been using this monitor for around 6 months now and it is truly amazing. I have used TFTs for games in the past, and the colours have been dull, and things hard to see, especially in dark areas and the responce times have been awful. This TFT doesnt have any of these problems, what with the DVI port, and ... ...colors are excellent and although a little pricy and hard to get hold of - you get what you pay for.
I would recommend this monitor to anyone be it for games or simple day to day pc use. Since buying one for home use I have also persuaded my boss to buy a few for the office - thats how much I love these TFTs! ...

A really good monitor
Advantages: No missing pixels, looks great Disadvantages: A little expensive
I bought this monitor from Overclockers.com one of only two retailers shipping these monitors in the UK for £370 last year. It arrived the next day and has no missing pixels (Hitachi had the least of any brands) and is really clear and crisp and works great including with lots of high spec games. It is based on the new high refresh rate LCD technology which means that there is absolutely no blurring of games or DVDs and no annoying trails when moving ... ...monitors. It comes with both a regular DSUB and DVI connector and if your graphics card doesn't have a DVI port then the DSUB is perfectly good enough. The onscreen controls are simple and easy to use. It looks very good in black and goes nicely with my logitech cordless keyboard and mouse and my creative 5.1 speaker system! Thoroughly recommend. ...

Great monitor in a small package
Advantages: contrast, colors, great for gaming Disadvantages: unremarkable design
...I'd heard good things about BenQ and I was curious about how LED backlighting would affect the picture quality. Over about the past month, I've slowly used my Dell less and less and THAT'S become my second monitor. I use monitors for many things: gaming, movies, and of course anything on my computer. My gaming (Xbox and computer gaming) and computing has all moved over to the G920WL. I do still watch movies on the ST2310 because it's 1080p, but I ... ...BenQ, they just look much better. The first thing I noticed was that the monitor reaches full brightness instantly, which is nice but not important. After that, my desktop picture's colors looked incredibly vibrant. I then pulled up firefox and it was very obvious that the text was clearer and easier to read. The next thing I did was throw on a movie, Star wars episode III, which really uses deep colors and requires good contrast to look reasonable. ...

Excellent quality at a great price. Using these for photography
Advantages: Great value, decent inputs, sharp picture Disadvantages: None I can think of at this moment
These have not been out for a very long time and so far I cannot fault them. I have two of these in a dual screen setup for professional photography and after some quick calibrating the colours are unbelieveable. After ordering these I had them delivered within two weeks which was great.
Advanced viewing angle adjustability suits me perfectly allowing me to rotate the screen 90 degrees for viewing portrait sized pictures full screen. As for inputs ... ...USB 2.0 connectors.
Warranty is fantasitc, the minute you find a dead pixel, even just one, you get a replacement under their three year premium warranty which is included at no extra cost.
The panels are also from Dell's "improve work environment productivity" and are Energy Star compliant. I would not hesitate in recomending this to anyone ...

LED backlighting is the way to go
Advantages: GREAT image, colors and contrast are amazing, 1080p, fast response rate Disadvantages: adjustment system could be better
I've been waiting for LED backlighting forever (at least it seems like it!), and this monitor really shows what you can do with the technology. The most striking difference is the contrast. I put Watchmen (for it's mix of very dark and very bright action scenes) on side by side with my Dell E248WFP, a CRT backlit display. It was amazing how much clearer the action was, especially in dark scenes where objects are often very difficult to distinguish. ... ...advantage of LED, the monitor itself has many advantages. The response rate is very fast, with very little or no input lag (which can be important for gaming). I think the adjustment system is OK, but it's good enough to do whatever you want, it's just hard to navigate at times. Also as a cool little addition it has a little cup-like piece where you can put whatever you want (I put a small cactus in mine!). With all the positives of the last generation ...
