Sharp 19" LCD - great telly for the bedroom

Advantages: Picture quality, ease of set-up and connectivity
Disadvantages: Sound quality average

Great telly - picture quality on uk freeview with indoor amplified aerial (20 quid job from Argos) is impressive - ideal bedroom telly because it's also very quiet. Impressive array of inputs on the back, HDMI, component, SCART and PC VGA. Only downsides are that sound lacks a bit of bass and ambient light adaptive brightness is much too trigger happy - but you can switch that off. Only took about a minute to find all available digital channels ...
...gives you signal strength and signal quality for each channel so you can wiggle your indoor antenna around to find the best position. (P.S. yes it is when you have it dangling out of the top drawer in your chest of drawers - but isn't that always the case!) Comet have it in stock and are willing to price-match with Richer Sounds so you can get it for 179 quid like me! ...

A Sharp LCD at the cutting edge of technology.

An Okay All Rounder from LG

Advantages: Good build, Good remote
Disadvantages: Poor viewing angles, Only got analogue tuner buit-in, Dated now, Possibility of Dead Pixels

The LG Flatron M1917A is a 19" LCD TV I bought about 2 years ago for around £200. I have been using it as a secondary monitor alongside another LG flat screen but as it is a TV as well, I have been able to hook it up to my DVD player via the composite and phono (composite video and audio) and to my Humax Freeview recorder via SCART to watch Freeview programming on it. It has a reasonable number of connection options but lacks DVI, which isn't a problem ...
...it as a TV, then it's worth considering so long as you're not after superior picture quality with great viewing angles. Hopefully, you won't get a dead / stuck pixel like on mine but LG in general, are a very good brand for screens. Thanks for reading! ...

Very Poor

Advantages: Sound is fine
Disadvantages: Picture awful

So disappointed in this TV. Picture is blurry/pixelated. Thought LG's were good but they are worse than the cheap Wharfdale I had. Connectig the laptop through the VGA cable is even worse. If you connect your DVD player via scart you have to turn the dvd off to get back to the tv for some reason. I'd rate this tv D-.
