Lego Batman is the third game of this genre (to the best of my knowledge). The first one being Lego Star Wars and the second one being Lego Indiana Jones. I have these first two, and honestly believe that this latest release on the Batman theme is the best one yet.

The game has only been recently released on 10th October, 2008.

To access the baddie levels, you need to head to the vehicle garage of the asylum, and once completed an entire hero chapter, you are then able to play through the chapter form the baddie's point of view.
I would like to state at the beginning of this review, that I will not go into each individual stage of the game, and give you all the secrets as this would spoil your enjoyment of the game, but will give you an overview which will hopefully help you enjoy the game.
Lego Batman is the third game of this genre (to the best of my knowledge). The first one being Lego Star Wars and the second one being Lego Indiana Jones. I have these first two, and honestly believe that this latest release on the Batman theme is the best one yet.
***RELEASE DATE***
The game has only been recently released on 10th October, 2008.
***PRICES***
As with all things, you can get this game from different retailers at different prices. The prices that I quote below are some of the prices that I found from walking around my local shopping mall in one afternoon.
No doubt, going to different retailers, or by purchasing on the internet, you can get the same game for different prices, so it is worthwhile shopping around a bit to get the best price.
***AGE RANGE***
According to the manufacturers, it is suitable for 7+. I feel however, that due to some of the challenges, it may be better suited for the teenage market and above. The good thing is that it does not have the usual blood and gore which many video games seem to incorporate these days - after all, the characters are made of Lego.
***SAFETY WARNING***
When playing any Wii game, please ensure that you put your wrist through the remote wrist strap. If you have one, also use the Wii remote jacket / cover (please see my review on this item entitled Free Wii Remote Jacket / Cover). Then, if in the heat of the moment, if you let go of the remote, you reduce the risk of it smashing the window, television, mirror, aquarium or that old valuable vase in the corner of the room. Could be an interesting insurance claim.
***THE GAME***
When you first start the game, you are in the top secret Batcave, which is below the famous Wayne Manor. From here, you can travel to different levels, purchase new characters, hints and extras that you have unlocked during the game, or create a unique character to fight the baddies with. There is also an asylum where you can create a unique hero or baddie.
To fight the baddies, simply jump into the vehicles to bring up the Level Select map for the hero levels, and at the start of the game, all three hero chapters are available to play.
By completing an entire hero chapter, you get to unlock the corresponding villain chapter, aswell as unlocking the path to the asyslum, where you can play the villain levels.
***NICE TWIST NOT PREVIOUSLY AVAILABLE ON LEGO STAR WARS OR LEGO INDIANA JONES***
At the asyslum, where the baddies are locked up, you can take control of the baddies and head out into Gotham City. To access the baddie levels, you need to head to the vehicle garage of the asylum, and once completed an entire hero chapter, you are then able to play through the chapter form the baddie's point of view.
All the expected baddies are present, such as The Riddler, The Joker, Cat Woman and many others.
***BATCOMPUTER***
The Batcomputer is found in the Batcave, and this is where all the info and gadgets can be found to help you fight the criminals.
You can buy facts from the computer to find out more about your favourite heroes and baddies.
***CHARACTERS AND BATCOMPUTER***
New characters are made available for you to buy from the computer as you progress through the Story Mode. To purchase a new character, you need enough Lego studs, which you can obtain as you play the game. Once you complete a hero or villain level in story mode, you can explore it fully by going back to the level in Free Play mode, which allows you to use character and suit abilities you may have missed in the level in Story mode. Playing Free Play mode also lets you access all areas of the level. After you have unlocked a new character, you can select him or her by going into a level in Free Play mode and selecting the character from the list of unlocked characters.
***EXTRAS***
Batman being Batman, you would expect him to have lots of gadgets and things to help him fight the baddies in Gotham City. You can purchase these extras with Lego studs from the Batcomputer.
***CHOOSING A LEVEL***
This game has 30 different levels to play. 15 levels from the goodies points of view, and 15 levels from the baddies point of view.
The 15 goodie levels are located in the Batcave, and to get to them, simply head to the hanger and get in one of the vehicles, bringing up the level select map.
The 15 baddie levels are located in the asylum, and to get to them, once again head to the hanger and get in one of the vehicles to bring up the map for that particular chapter.
You need to complete an entire goodie chapter to unlock the equivalent baddie chapter.
***GAME MODES***
There are two different ways to play every level. Story mode and free play mode.
STORY MODE
When you first go into a new level, this is the only mode available. In story mode, you take control of pre selected characters and vehicles for the level.
FREE PLAY MODE
Once you complete either a goodie or a baddie level in story mode, you can go back to it in free play mode. This time however, you can play with a larger party than in the story mode, being able to use any of the characters and suits you may have unlocked to access new areas of the level.
Whey you select a free play level, you get to choose which character you want to take. Most characters are unavailable at the start of the game, and you will need to buy them with your collected Lego studs. Once all active players have selected their characters, the rest of the party will have other characters added to them automatically, giving you the best pool of abilities from the characters you have unlocked.
***SPECIAL BATAMAN AND ROBIN SUITS***
GLIDE SUIT
Batman can use a Glide Suit to cross gaps and drops he would normally not be able to cross.
SONIC SUIT
This suit allows Batman to shatter glass objects and windows around Gotham
DEMOLITION SUIT
This allows Batman to lay bombs and remotely detonate them to destroy silver Lego objects. Be careful though, as the bombs are on a timer, and if you wait too long they will explode on their own
HEAT PROTECTION SUIT
This allows Batman to travel through very hot areas and allows him to pick up red hot pieces of Lego
MAGNET SUIT
This attaches high power magnets to the bottom of Robin's boots, letting him to walk up and along metal surfaces and lets him reach areas he would not normally be able to reach.
WATER SUIT
This lets Robin swim down into areas of water.
TECHNOLOGY SUIT
With this suit, Robin can get access to special panels that allow him to take control of various robotic elements within the different levels.
ATTRACTION SUIT
No, this is not a suit to make you better looking to the opposite sex. This lets Robin pick up and collect small Lego pieces that can then be used to fill special canisters.
***SPECIAL ABILITIES***
SUPERSTRENGTH
Some characters have superhuman strength which they can use to pick up and throw heavy pieces of Lego that other characters would not be able to move.
MIND CONTROL
Some characters have the ability to take control of other weak minded characters.
***ITEMS***
LEGO STUDS
These can be picked up through the whole game, and can be found by smashing things, breaking things, building things and so on. You can use these studs to purchase characters, hints and extras from the Batcomputer. Lego studs come in three values - silver 10 points, gold 100 points, blue 1000 points.
HEARTS
Each character ( your character will have a small picture at the top of the screen with heart life indicator and the amount of Lego studs you have), has four hears to start of with. Each time your character gets hit or is wounded, you lose a heart. If you lose your hearts altogether, you character explodes into lots of Lego pieces.
Sometimes when you defeat an enemy or destroy an item, a heart token will be revealed. Pick it up to restore your character heart levels.
LEGO CANISTERS
There are 10 Lego canisters hidden in each level. Once you collect the 10 Lego canisters, you will be able to view a Minikit model from either the batcave or the asylum.
RED POWER BRICKS
One Red Power Brick is hidden in each level. If you can find it, you will unlock more features including extras and bonus content.
***GRAPHICS AND SOUND EFFECTS***
The graphics are excellent, and my only advice here would be to play it on as large a screen as possible. Actual communication between characters is kept to a minimum, and possibly the only downside is the Batman music which runs in the background, but after a while, you mind seems to block that out.
The good thing is that there is no blood and guts in this, and when a character dies, simply blows up into small Lego bits. Basically a good family game.
***SUMMARY****
GOOD POINTS
Lego Theme Good Graphics Batman Theme Challenging Open to all levels Good Family entertainment
BAD POINTS
Variability of price, so shop around Cost of Wii remote batteries
Lego batman is one of three games the lego franchise released in succession. Lego batman is gripping and addictive and I found myself attached to the screen within minutes. Smash and batarang yourway through the 30 level chapters I bought this game after playing the indiana free roam lego game. I was overly joyed by the game and the playability so decided that I may aswell buy the next in the series. Lego Batman is a game where you can play as both ... ...each game there are 10 lego canisters(which glow and are black) to collect. These canisters represent minikit/as I call them a unlockable model. Aswell as that there are Studs, which are basically like Ratchet and clank Bolts. Like points which can be redeemed for unlockables(cars, vehicles and upgrades). Then there is also the famed power brick which can be difficult to find as there is one in every level, making it much trickier to find the powerbrick's. ...

Advantages: fun, lego related, loads of things characters can do Disadvantages: at some point it will end, not a lot of games like this
...creating video games in a lego format. So far having created; Star Wars, Indiana Jones and of course Batman. When I got this last year I was excited straight away, after having played Star Wars and though at times finding it insanely hard, it was always enjoyable following the plot lines and fighting with the characters.
The game entitles you to complete each level by collecting all the studs (to buy characters, vehicles and better abilities) also ... ...are about 30.
In Lego Batman you can fight using the A and B buttons or moving the control and nunchuck as if you are fighting the enemies off yourself. The Z button on the back of the nunchuck allows you to access the heroes or villains special ability. For Batman and Robin this would be the batarang and for the villains it could be Jokers zap or Poison Ivys killer kiss. Also it allows batman and robin to harness onto buildings.
The game is played ...

Advantages: Strategy-based brick-building fun Disadvantages: One or two levels very hard to crack
...on the heels of the Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones games for the Wii comes the next excellent instalment of brick-based genius. Having played both of the aforementioned titles on the Wii, it was with a little trepidation I tried out Lego Batman: The Videogame. I was worried that it would be all a bit same-y; just another variation on a theme. I needn't have worried. Lego Batman on the Wii is a great game. It has all the puzzle-based aspects ... ...the familiar Batman baddies. And it still has the same concept of collecting and/or assembling lego bricks to achieve your goals. Bizarrely, I still find it funny seeing Batman thowing all the bricks together building something - maybe it's just me. This game will keep you occupied for hours. ...

Advantages: Cheap, exciting Disadvantages: I think it is a bit short
I bought it for my son, but now, i play with it, because i fill very happy when i play with it.
So let's start on the begins of it: It was about 5000 Hungarian Forint(about 300$) and we started to play immediately when we arrived at home, and we can't put it down until we must eat, then we continued it, so you can imagine how it's nice.
When we got to the end of the game, we started again, everything from 0.
It takes about 5 days to get to the ...
