Introduction

Lego Star Wars is a very enjoyable game; fun for all the family. It includes all kinds of weaponry and characters which all participate towards completing the whole, entire game. Its based on the film "Star Wars" except all the characters are Lego not human. The game is suitable for ages 3+ so a wide range of people can play this remarkable game. As you proceed through the game you can unlock and buy all sorts of different characters, which can be accessed in the game in free play. Free Play is where you can choose and play with any character you have bought or unlocked in a different level.

Characters

The characters are a crucial part in completing the game, as each one is unique in its own way. The better characters such as Ghost Yoda and Greedo will have to be unlocked and bought to be accessed in free play. Unfortunately these are not in the real levels but characters such as Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and maybe a glimpse of Yoda as well. Each character has a different way of moving and also has a weapon according to which person it is; a Jedi or an normal civilian. All these characters also have different costumes for different levels such as there are:
Hoth
Bespain
Dagobah
Pilot
Tatooine
And much more….

Weaponry

Different characters have different weaponry. Jedi's have the original lightsaber, to jump and slash it about to destroy enemies. Then you have the normal civilians who have regular guns to fire with. Next there is the bounty hunters who store bombs to throw and destroy door and get money. For weaponry they either have normal guns or a special blaster thing like Boba Fett who also has a jet pack. Lastly there are characters like the Jawa who shut down robots for a short period of time. I would say that the weaponry on the game is pretty awesome and different.

Video clips

During a level you watch little clips, at the start of a level or the end of it, which tell you what it is all about. It also has some child humor in their as well, which is why so many children, like myself, have bought it and thoroughly enjoyed. The clips are also filled with action and are somewhat a bit weird (but funny weird). I'll give you an example, in one, when Darth Vader cut Luke Skywalkers hand off he got it replaced with a robot one that fell off and went crazy. It was really funny. Unfortunately on free play there are not any videos to watch and see which a small disadvantage is.

Levels

In each episode there are 6 chapters/levels and there is a bonus level which is all of the levels in that episode put together. You get a ridiculous time limit to do it in which is 1hour and it took me about 2. Selections of characters are in the level according to the film/book. During the level you can swap people to be the right person for the kind of job, needed to be done. For example you might need R2-D2 or 3cpo to open a door or something similar. Overall the levels are great especially as all kinds of humor and funniness has been included.

Free play

Free play is where you can choose any player to play as out of the ones you have bought or simply unlocked. The computer also chooses another 7 characters to play with which includes R2-D2, 3CPO, a bounty hunter, a small person, another 2 Jedi's and a normal civilian. All these characters will come in handy while you're playing. If a friend has the same game then you can play on free player with both of you. That is a great feature. Free play is defiantly one of the best features which is on the game and maybe in all the games in the entire world.

Multiplayer

One of the ways to do multiplayer is on free play you can play with them and sometimes against them. When working with them they can also lean to co-operate with each other, by telling each other who to kill and where to go. The other way to do multiplayer is just on the normal levels, which takes even more co-operation. The levels are just the same and all of them can be played as multiplayer which is excellent. The only problem is that it is not split screen so you have to be a specific distance between each other so you could be dragging the other person along.

Additional features

To make the experience even funnier, on extras, you can make it so that there is 3CPO is on the back of Chewbacca, the Death star being towed by something, daisy chains and much more funny ideas. Another feature is that you can collect gold bricks to build a door for a bonus level. You can also collect mini kits which also boosts how much you have done in the game. You can also create your own character, but I will explain that in a bit more detail later on.

Bad points

One of the bad points in the game is that at the end of the last level in the episode they go through every single person who participated in the creation of the game, which takes about 10 minutes. What's the point! Another bad point is that after completing all the levels there is nothing really to do except re-doing the levels over and over again, which after a while gets a bit boring. But this is ruled out by the amount of additional features there is to offer.

Creating your own character

You can create your character near the wireless lobby, and is another great feature included in the game. You create and structure it out of the characters you have bought and you can pretty much change everything to make the best person ever. You can change the head, the hair, the body, the arms, the hands, the weaponry, the legs and the hat (if you want one). You can access the characters in free play and can be picked to do any levels, in the free play mode. You can also change its name as well, mine is flabbernabber.

Combat

In combat does something different except a couple of characters. There is of course the original fire and kill, but on some (such as Princess Leia) you can hit and punch, if near enough. When you're a Jedi, according to which character you are you can jump and attack, wiping out most enemies or just the simple attack and die. Depending on the Jedi you pick, probably Jedi's are better than characters with guns, because normally it takes quite a while to kill with guns whereas Jedi's can also deflect fires as well and sometimes kill them with that. So in theory Jedi's also have a gun as well as a lightsaber.

Complexity and Enjoyment

The complexity on this game is reasonably low, as it is just a kid's game. Also the videos explain a bit more so there is no reason not to understand a level. You might just find it hard how to get past a bit but it sure does not take long to figure it out. As a 3+ game, with no serious aspects to it, it is defiantly not complicated so do not be put off by the front cover.

The enjoyment value on this is extremely fantastic and like I said before it is also very funny. Once in a level it's very difficult to stop playing and put the PSP down for even 10 seconds. And I mean that. If your looking for enjoyment this is the game to buy, not just cause its funny but for many other insane reasons. The enjoyment on the game is defiantly 9/10.

Price: 11 pounds 7p, which is really cheap for such a great game.

Conclusion

This game has something for everyone, chorizema, funniness and enjoyment value. This game is a must buy game and should be defiantly bought for a birthday or for Christmas. Your eyes will be fixes to it with super glue. I also think that the game is probably the best game out for younger people and could be the funniest as well. If you do not have this game you do not know what you are missing. It's also packed full will cool new features, which everyone loves and wants to hear about.
