~The Game~
Based on the first three Star Wars films, episodes 4, 5 and 6, you play as lego based characters from the films.
Beginning at Episode 4, you first take the character of Princess Leia, and must fight your way past imperial guards, to eventually place your secret message in the R2 unit known as R2D2.
Once you have completed the first level of Episode 4, you have then unlocked the story modes for Episodes 5 and 6, as well as part 2 of Episode 4.
In the next part of Episode 4 you'll find you are playing as Luke Skywalker and you eventually meet up with Obi Wan. The way the Lego games are made means you need to swap between characters in order to complete certain tasks. So at some point you'll need to be Luke in order to use a firing weapon and grapple hooks, other times you'll need to use the force so you have to play as Obi Wan, and of course there are doors and such like that only droids can open, so you'll often have to be R2D2 and C3PO.
On your way through each part of the Episode you can collect Lego studs. Collect the allotted amount for each part and you'll get True Jedi status, meaning you have achieve one of 99 achievements in the game. Beware though, dying means you lose studs. Studs are either lying around to be collected, or they're found back breaking everything in sight.
Also you need to collect canisters, there are 10 in each part, and once you've collected all 10 they add together to become a Lego vehicle.
Some canisters can only be obtained on the Freeplay for each part, because they're either too high for the characters available in story mode, or you need a character that can do Dark Force, or you need to be a small character. This means you'll have to do every level at least twice if you want to complete the entire game.
Mos Eisley's Cantina is the hub of the game, here you select which episode and part you want to play, you can also use your studs to buy extras like huge blasters, or invincibility. You can buy extra characters to use in the Freeplay games, or you can create you're own character, swapping the heads, bodies and legs of all the characters in the game.
Going to the outside of the Cantina allows you to view the vehicles you've collected through the canisters.
You can only play Freeplay on the levels where you have completed the Story Mode. You don't have to attain True Jedi status to open Freeplay, just as long as you get from the start to the finish.
You can also play on two player, and the second player will take over another character. This can make it easier because you don't have to keep swapping over, and occasionally one character has to hold something open (particularly with the force), whilst the second performs a task. And while this can be done on single player, sometimes you have to give the AI a bit of a kick to get the computer controlled character to do his job.
~My Thoughts~
I bought this game for my son, who's a Star Wars nut, but quite honestly I love it myself. Its absolutely the best Xbox game I've played.
I know I'm such a saddo, but its easy to play, its funny, I never tire of slapping people around the head lol.
The game follows the stories quite well, obviously there are little bits which have been changed in order for the game to make sense, but if you've watched the films you'll be able to recognise all the scenes.
When in story mode each level starts with a clip, and there are often little bits of film throughout the level. And these make me chuckle away to myself, there's no talking so it's all communicated by gestures, and sometimes the little lego figures are really funny.
My daughter also loves to play, and really laughs at the version of Leia which is dressed in a bikini after being Jabba's slave. She calls her the 'Boogy Woogy girl' because you can make her dance.
There are lots of little bits that make the game fun, like having a disco section, of Leia trying to kiss the boys.
As for things like the graphics, well its a Lego cartoon, so they're not super high definition, or life like. But they are perfectly adequate for the type of game it is.
We're actually playing this on the Xbox 360, despite it being an original Xbox game, but the only difference I can see is that occasionally on the entry into each level the graphics are a bit blocky, but once the level starts, they look the same as they do on the original Xbox.
I would recommend this game to anyone, whether they've seen to films or not. And if they don't take their game play too seriously.
Advantages: great graphics, speed and game play, much fun Disadvantages: none to speak off, maybe price
...from the first star wars Lego game, but this time you play the characters and scenes from the first three original films, star wars, the empire strikes back and return of the Jedi.
The essence of the game is much the same as the first game but with few tweaks and additions.
New additions
In this game you can create your own character from mixing and matching the characters of the film so you can for example have a chewbacca head on a c3po body ... ...game, as these are proper Lego spacecraft.
This game is easy to play and is aimed at the younger generation but the funky game play and graphics allow grown ups of the star wars generation to play and not feel daft.
The game is structured like before where you have the central diner/ moss isley cantina and choose which levels 1 star wars 2 empire strikes back or 3 return of the Jedi to choose from.
This then has levels beneath it running through ...

Advantages: Fun filled non-stop lego action Disadvantages: Annoying camera placement
Which ever man at the Lucas Arts studio that came up with the idea to cross gaming with Lego deserves a medal, even after years of the franchise expanding with the latest release being Lego Batman, the games still remain fresh, witty and original for people of all ages to play.
-----The Story-----
I'm going to assume now that everyone reading this has heard of StarWars, and if you haven't, what have you been doing for the last 10 years and go down to your local store and rent it.
The game follows the storyline of the first three films very closely but has to throw in the occasional battle and enemy in places where none appeared in the films just to keep it interesting and enjoyable, now when I say the first three films, I mean the three that were released first i.e. episodes 4, 5 and 6 I would remind you of the story but that ...

BUILD AND BATTLE THROUGH THE ORIGINAL TRILODGY
when i first bought legostarwars2 i wasnt expecting much but when you here that starwars theme and appear in episode 4 you just get sucked into this game with its fun original levels its light hearted humour and all the unlockables this is a game that makes it hard to put down your xbox 360 controller.
Legostarwars has been ported to next gen although you do not see a big diference in graffics between the originalxbox and 360 versions on this game the 360 has improved with textures ,lighting and basicaly everthing looks more like its made out of plastic this game not as chalenging as others i wouldnt recomend this to hardcore gammers.
This game is a fun light hearted game which is aproved for all ages and is fun for the whole family with its funny cut scenes and all ...
Advantages: great fun, easy game play, suitable for all ages Disadvantages: none
I bought this for my son who is 6, and is an ideal game for him to play. Its not too hard to understand how to play it and is really fun too. You build things from lego to use as you go along the storylines, the graphics are quite good and has a good appeal as well. I actually quite like the game as well and play it quite often, and I'm not really into video games, but this one has got me a bit hooked!
You can also select what characters you want to play as as you win more levels, so you can be chewbacca, luke skywalker or even one of the baddies as you go along!
Great for kids as it is cartoonish and relatively easy to play, and if your kids are into starwars or lego or both i think they will love this, i'm not into either and i love it!! I think this really is a fun game and would recommend this to anyone unsure of what game ...

Manufacturer's product description
LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy takes the fun and endless customization of LEGO and combines it with the epic story, characters and action from the original Star Wars movies that revolutionized pop culture forever (Episode IV A New Hope, Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI Return of the Jedi). With a unique tongue-in-cheek take on the Original Trilogy, LEGO Star Wars II follows the Rebel Alliance's crusade to dismantle the Galactic Empire and rebuild a galaxy in pieces. Build and battle your way through your favorite film moments, from Darth Vader's pursuit of Princess Leia aboard her Blockade Runner to a showdown on the second Death Star, as the game includes even more of the family-friendly LEGO action, puzzles and humor that earned the original LEGO Star Wars such popularity and acclaim.
And much more new to offer, it still has. For the first time ever, characters can get in and out of vehicles, as well as ride creatures. You can also mix and match the body parts of more than 50 playable characters to create one of millions of possible LEGO Star Wars heroes. And on console and Windows platforms, a game save from the first LEGO Star Wars can unlock another 50-plus additional characters for Free Play - that's more than 100 total characters! Other exciting additions include free-roaming vehicle levels that are no longer on rails, the ability to switch ships at will in Free Play, cool new character-specific attacks and maneuvers, playable mini-kit vehicles, an optional adaptive difficulty mode and more.
Features:
Expands upon all of the fun and creativity that made the original LEGO Star Wars such a hit, this time set during the original three Star Wars films (Episodes IV, V, VI).
For the first time ever, build and ride vehicles (landspeeders, AT-STs, speeder bikes and more) and mount creatures (from the banthas of desert Tatooine to the tauntauns of frigid Hoth) through on-foot levels.
Now, all non-droid characters - not just those with the Force - have the power to build.
Unlock more than 50 playable characters, from cultural icons like Luke, Leia and Darth Vader to fan favorites such as Greedo, Jawas and Gamorrean guards.
Unlock up to 54 more playable characters with a game save from the original LEGO Star Wars (consoles/Windows).
Create unique playable characters like Yoda Kenobi, Lando Fortuna and millions more by mixing and matching the LEGO body parts of all playable characters.
In Free Play mode, experience the Original Trilogy in a new way by importing any character into land levels, or switch between vehicles at will in space levels. Make Darth Maul a hero of the Rebellion, or destroy the Death Star with a TIE fighter!
Character-specific attacks include Chewbacca pulling enemies' arms out of their sockets, Vader's Force choke, Leia's "slap" melee attack and many more.
Tongue-in-cheek humor presents the Original Trilogy in a manner only LEGO can put together, with comical reinterpretations of classic Star Wars scenes and elements.
Solve a greater variety of puzzles that encourage creative thinking through the use of teamwork and unique building situations only possible in a LEGO galaxy far, far away.
The adaptive difficulty option creates more challenging gameplay for Jedi Master gamers - the better you do, the tougher it gets.
Cooperative gameplay encourages teamwork in a fun way and features a revamped camera for an optimal gameplay experience.
The PSP version features wireless play for two-player co-operative and competitive gaming, with exclusive content unavailable anywhere else.
Play through completely different LEGO Star Wars II gaming experiences on Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance.
