I've had the Lexmark X3470 for over 8 weeks now and In the main I'm satisfied with this unit. It offers excellent all round funcionality - printer, scanner, copier and the capability to print photos from either a memory card (accepts SD, CF, MMC, xD and MS cards) or via PictBridge compatible digital cameras. One word of caution regading the memory card option: Although the unit functions perfectly with a 2GB SD card it is unable to read a 4GB SD card. My unit might simply have a fault but otherwise there is a memory card size limitation (not mentioned in instructions). Unfortunately the X3470 comes with the usual set of Lexmark quirks commonly found amongst there budget range of printers. That is: 1) a dreadful paper feed - don't even attempt to place more than 5 sheets of paper in the tray as they will all shoot out at once. 2) Less than perfect print quality from the one cartridge - Lexmark appear to have replaced the usual two ink cartridges (black and colour) and while this vastly reduces the cost of ink replacement (the new cartridge costs around £13) the quality of print (to my eyes) is poor. The basic black ink seems to have been replaced by some kind of mixture which results in a very dark green colour (agan, to my eyes). The photo print quality would disappoint those looking for good reproduction but when considering the price tag it does a reasonable job. If you want a decent photo printer you'll need to spend more than the £35 this unit cost me. On the positive side the copier which can be operated directly via the units front panel (the computer does not need to be turned on) is suprisingly good quality and produces a near perfect replication. The scanner is also better than expected and can be easily operated through the supplied user friendly software.
All in all the X3470 is a decent multifunction priner which does everything I need. Unless you're looking for a £35 miracle its difficult to see how you could be disappointed with this unit.
