This is a perfectly legal way to convert your LG-3200E DVD player to multi-region so you can take advantage of all those great priced DVDs at www.cd-wow.com (please see my separate opinion on this retailer).
I bought my DVDplayer from www.bigsave.com just before Christmas. It cost me 157.99 including VAT with free delivery. I was really impressed with the player, which was intended as a Christmas present for my husband. It’s a silver colour and very stylish looking. Also has lots of features. I was less impressed with the fact that it was advertised on the Bigsave site as a multi-region player but when it arrived the factory settings were set to the default, i.e. Region 2. So I couldn’t play any of the DVDs I’d bought from Cd-wow. I emailed Bigsave Customer Services about the problem and quick as a flash they sent me a fax containing all the relevant details. Which I now share with you here. Note this fix also works on the LG DVD-3350E, Aiwa XR-DV370KN and Zenith DVD2381, but may NOT work on models with older firmware.
Please rest assured this is perfectly legal and can be achieved merely by pressing a few buttons on the remote control. You will not be required to prise open the box or invalidate the warranty in any way. But I would urge CAUTION. Please follow the instructions as carefully as possible, I know it’s hard, the first time I tried it I it wouldn’t work, the second time I set the player to Region 1 only by mistake. If you do mess up you can always go back and try again.
Please bear in mind that if you suffer a power cut of significant duration then your DVD player may revert to the factory default settings. However, you can also use this as a means to escape the consequences of any messing around. Once you discover what you can do with the remote control on this machine, you may end up messing around and doing all sorts of things which you may want to rectify later. Enjoy!
Here’s what to do:
1. Press the Pause button on your remote control 2. Using your remote control enter the code 3, 1, 4, 1, 5 and 9. Note: If your unit does not enter the following mode which enables you to enter a region code, repeat steps 1 and 2. You may need to enter these codes in a shorter time span for them to work. 3. Press the 0 button on your remote control for Region free, 1 for Region 1 or 2 for Region 2. 4. Press the Pause button on your remote control. 5. Power off your player and wait a few seconds. 6. Power on your player.
To view the firmware version of this player:
1. Press the Setup button on your remote control. 2. Select TV Aspect and place the cursor on the 16:9 Wide option. 3. Using your remote control enter the code 1, 3, 9, 7, 1, 3 and 9. 4. Press the Enter button on your remote control. 5. You should now see the version information screen. 6. Pressing the Setup button on your remote control exits this info screen
