...you play Games, but the LG 700S is not so brilliant. The Colour though is really impressive with Bright Rich shades & gives the images kind of a Fresh look. Like when I saw a wallpaper of a Luscious Apple on the monitor my mouth actually watered ( a drop of saliva did fall in my breast pocket ). Delicious!! Isn’t it. The LG 700S doesn’t stress out your eyes but that again is just for a few hours & you can’t sit before it for a whole day gazing into it. Though this is quite bad as LG claims the 700S to be better. The Anti-reflective, anti-static screen coating did work quite well but not up to my expectation & the Shadow mask too did not work that well, but Anti- Glare was the best of all & I found it to work Exceptionally. Have you seen my review of the HP Inkjet 3325 printer?, If yes then the same friend who had that silly printer, has this Monitor & this is not so silly to be honest. So before taking an experience myself I asked my friend how he liked it. He said it was excellent & stuff, but only before I reviewed it. I did turn out to be a better worth than the HP 3325 but HOW MUCH? Read on to find out pals.
Sorry guys I can’t give this product a nickname though. But lets see. The picture looks impressive from a distance of about 3 – 4 feet but lesser than that can reveal you the lines that is if you have sharp eyes. The images are soft on the eye But lack in depth. By depth I mean the 3D kind cos some monitors are brilliant with the kind of depth they display when you play Games, but the LG 700S is not so brilliant. The Colour though is really impressive with Bright Rich shades & gives the images kind of a Fresh look. I also tried it out on a pic of Marilyn & sorry I can’t tell you what happened ( ‘ ~ ‘ ) . The picture resolution is pretty good too cos 1024 X 768 @ 85 Hz refresh rate is quite good though you get better resolution monitors in the market, None are at this Price ( refresh rate less than 85hz could hurt you eyes due to visible flickering ). All the time I was working on it there was not even a point of time the 700S had displayed a sort of a glare. As I mentioned before its soft on the eye, as soft as Marilyn’s lips ( is that clear enough? ( - _ ‘) ) . But again I have to mention this – The LG 700S is still not the kind you’d need if you work with extreme graphics or if you’re the hardcore gamer. But for 16” ( though LG says it 17” the display is 16” , not bad as I have seen 15” monitors that are supposed to be 17” ) its Price tag its really worth the pay.
IMPRESSIVE!!. The monitor does not start with a Bang!! Like some do. But it does get heated up though after a long time, say, around 2-3 hrs. As far as the issue of repairing & servicing goes, it may not happen for a long time & unless you have very bad Sudden Power Surges in your area. I advise you to have a Voltage Stabilizer for your PC & that’s what I advised my friend too. You cannot be so sure you see. For this a 4/5 is certainly justified. Keep going 700S at least you’re a good performer here.__________________________________ ***EASE OF INSTALLATION & USE. [5/5]*** __________________________________
It’s a Plug & Play device & the onboard controls are really helpful & if you are Clever you can as well throw the instruction manual in the dustbin ( Heeeyy!! Don’t do it, it might be useful, that is if you’re not so Clever, Hehehe ) . The Ergonomics are pretty intelligent too, like if you are using the onboard controls regularly then you will at one point of time happen to use it Blindfolded. Now that sure is a compliment to the 700S. I have to award it a 5/5 however strict I may be, cos you see I do happen to have a Heart ( now that’s Romantic!! ).
This sure is not a sexy Monitor like the HP M703. But it sure looks quite acceptable in that white outfit because all computer peripherals are mainly available in white & surely a mix up would look like a Street Punk. And that’s not quite respectable. But still life’s got to be more Colouful man!! And I surely wasn’t bowled over by its looks or something like that ( actually that should’ve happened, I don’t know what went wrong this time !!). I think a lot & in the end I must give at least a 3/5, that’s justified ain’t it???______________________ ***BUILD QUALITY. [3/5]*** ______________________
Not a Volvo or a BMW surely but again not a Suzuki of course. I mean its not very high quality build that the LG 700S has got but again its not a poor build. This usually is the case with most Monitors, they end up with a 3/5. I tapped on the monitor body & got a little hollow response ( it was mild ), this suggested that the body would break if rough handled but if handled well then there would be No Problem At All. But still I feel sad that the world has to wait longer for a Wonder Polymer that is Cheap, Chemically Stable & Very Strong. One of you may solve that problem Can’t you Guys. Hey any Polymer Engineers looking at this??????
______________ ***MY OPINION*** ______________
For £80 a 17” monitor would be a steal to many out there who can’t afford costlier ones. So included with all other factors I mentioned above I surely recommend this for people who want a big monitor for a price as small, but again you must look or wait for a better one if you are a professional, but for home use the LG 700S is Very Very Good.
One thing I still can’t understand – The PC tower has got a cooling fan to keep the processor stable, Even CD/VCD/DVD players nowadays have a cooling system & TV’s too are not far behind, but Monitors ? I haven’t come across a single monitor that has a cooling system now can competitive manufacturers do something about that? Maybe not cos the World market is such that you need people to buy your goods continuously so if your goods work like German Goods then people would buy just once & no second helping. Think of it!!!
Happy Viewing, Jedi_kickass ( ‘ _ ‘ )
PS: Please don’t forget to rate this review Friends. I know U won’t forget & about the pic - I felt that i was Hot enough to turn on Marilyn herself. Sllllurrrrrrp
...i have to say, the LG is so much better in any situation. a good quality CRT monitor.
i currently use these monitors for studio based work, creating audio and editing and such, the depth on the LG is just nicer on the whole.
Nowadays you can probably grab one of these for pennies, and if you have the space for a CRT, then i would reccomend one: especially for gaming. on my gfx card the resolution will go up to 1280x1024 and a refresh rate of up ...

Advantages: Quite Cheap for a Cambridge Set, Satisfactory Sound, Good build quality, Quite easy to use. Disadvantages: Bass is not so Moisturized, Aesthetically Bland
The friend of mine who had purchased the LG SW 700S monitor which I have reviewed had purchased this Set of Multimedia Speakers. Though I like Cambridge products, this is quite disappointing when it comes to ?Rocking its Users?. Read on to find out Y. ( Taking a sip of 1890 French Wine)

Another of those sets which Don?t BANG as much as they CLANG!!!. The bass is kinda good ? like its quite moisturized ( though not much ), it is quite enormous but lacks in depth & detail. Sometimes the bass can grip you but more than often it does not. And when you increase the volume to about 40 ? 50% the bass gets more & more Hollow ( which sounds empty ) & the moisture ceases to exist at all. But the mids are well defined with ample ...
Ever had a hollow Easter Egg that looked beautiful on the outside?. This is just it ! . This is ‘The Hollow Easter egg’. One of my PG roommates bought a HP Home Computer which had this Monitor & attached Harman & Kardon Speakers ( which are as bad as the monitor ). The first time I saw the Monitor with the Sexy Terminator Blue Power indicator I thought ‘ WOWEEE!!! GREAT HP MONITOR’ , but when I worked on it, it turned out to be worse than LG Studioworks 700S Monitor. Have a look down to have a feel of my MISADVENTURE.
***PICTURE QUALITY. [2/5]***
Very Disappointing!! The flicker rate of 60Hz though @ 1280 X 1024 Resolution is very irritating to the eyes & quite harmful too. I set the refresh rate to 80 Hz & it worked properly ...
