What can I say about this monitor? I've been using one now for a year in a professional capacity. This monitor is hooked up to my CAD station & is about the minimum size you'd want to use for this purpose!
It also makes everyday applications easier to use just by the sheer amount of room provided!
The 995E is not a flatscreen monitor, but does have an 18" vieable area & does not seem to suffer from any of the deformation at the edges that I have seen on other screens.
I run it on a 4mb ATI card & have had no problems whatsoever!
The monitor has a 0.26 pitch (I think!) & will easy display resolutions of 1600x1200 with an 85hz refresh or more.
The biggest bonus with this monitor is the price! You can now pick them up for about £200, this is about a ton less than my company paid & I got in loads of quotes to get the cheapest one. Included in this price is a 3year on-site manufacturers warranty - you don't get much better than that! Confidence in their products - that's what we like!
The "envelope" Dimensions of the monitor are: 450mm wide x 450mm high (incl stand, supplied) x 450mm deep. Easy one to remember!! Obviously the monitor isn't cube shaped so it's actual volume will be less but this is the space you'd need on a desk to fit it on!
As I'm about to upgrade machines myself at home, this'll be the monitor for me!
Advantages: Large sharp screen Disadvantages: Ghosting and moire problems
The LG Studioworks 995E is a bit of a mixed bag. The most obvious plus is that you’re getting a 19” monitor for £200 or less, and one with a big 18” viewable area that is only slightly curved to boot.
Picture quality is good, too. Blooming is minimal, power regulation is excellent resulting in a rock solid image, and colour purity is as good as you can expect from a budget screen. The on-screen controls are nice and clear and include the often-omitted ... ...in higher resolutions, which no amount of fiddling with the OSD can totally cure.
The big flaw in this monitor is the excessive amount of ‘ghosting’ (faint shadows to the right of images) that manifests itself when the unit is connected to an nVidia-based graphics card. All the TNT2 and GeForce cards I’ve tried cause the same problem to a certain extent, particulary above 1152x864 @ 85Hz. ATI, 3dfx and 3DLabs cards didn’t cause any ghosting at all.

With its large screen and compact cabinet, the Studioworks 995E gives you more room to work in, yet takes up less space on your desk. Now you can spread out your spreadsheets, or open multiple windows without the need to scroll around. What's more, the 995E has flicker-free resolution up to a super-sharp 1600 x 1200, special screen coatings, and on-screen digital microprocessor controls. The Studioworks 995E color monitor from LG. Enjoy the view.
