When my old monitor started wobbling at me and giving me other problems, I looked around for a replacement. My desk is cluttered and a vast tract of it was taken up with the monitor, so I started thinking flat. LCD screens are still expensive, but if you look around you can find some bargains. I was even luckier, on my way to check out one shop, The Computer Superstore, home of Jungle.com I stopped off at a local computer shop, DES. As a result, I came away with one of last year's models at a good price.
I've looked at a number of LCD screens and found very little between them other than price. The LG model has been floating around at the lower end of the price range for a while so I was a bit nervous about the reasons. I've tried it with fast games and with photo software, and I am very pleased with it. It's flicker free, which is good since I spend a lot of time looking at it, takes up minimal space, 1024 x 768 resolution, has good visibility and looks good. What more could you ask for? If you want to be picky, text isn't as sharp as on a CRT monitor but that's the only downside and seems common to all the LCDs I've seen.
