I purchased my plasma TV a couple of weeks ago, and after a little bit of research into what, for me, is a major purchase, and a lot of humming and harring I finally settled on the LG42pc55 at a cost of £899. My initial reaction was that it wasn't as heavy as I'd expected, making it fairly easy to manhandle on to the stand (which I already had). Setting up was easy, too. Once I had it plugged in and the aerial connected, I just pushed th 'on' button and off it went - tuning itself in, which took just a couple of minutes. It is fitted with freeview, and the picture quality is superb. I also have my Sky box connected, and again the picture quality is superb.
One slight dissapointment is the inclusion of only 2 scart sockets, which meant that I had to do a bit of juggling to get my Sky box, 1 dvd recorder and 2 dvd players connected but now they are all on I am extremely pleased with the results. There are a myriad of other connectors, hdmi etc, fitted and also a connector for my computer if so desired.
I spent a little time adjusting the colours, brightness, contrast etc, as the factory settings were a little too strong for my tastes. But that said it was easy to do, and the tv allows you to save two custom settings as well as the factory one, which I think is a useful feature. Similarly, sound settings can be made according to taste. It supports all the screen sizes, 16.9, 4.3, 14.9, plus 'full' , 'spectator', and 'original' so I think they've got every corner covered there. Plus there is a zoom feature on all screen sizes, which allows you to zoom in and out. A bit superflous this one, but fun all the same.
Instructions come by the way of a cd which you can insert into your computer which is fine, of course, unless you don't have a computer. There are just brief 'quick start instructions' offered in printed format, which I feel is a bit sparse considering the cost of the tv., and the fact that to access all of the facilities available many people would need instructions.
Overall, I am absolutely delighted with my purchase and have no hesitation in recommending the LG as a tv that offers superb picture quality, lots of useful and useable features and value for money. Plus the all black design with 'piano black' finish looks absolutely stunning.

I have had the LG 42 PC55 for a few months now, in addition to watching TV, I also run both my PC and games consoles through it, with no problems or issues regarding distortion - the picture quality is very good.
The viewing angle is close to 180 degrees, which comes in surprising useful! And although I have mine hooked up to a surround sound, system. the quality and volume of the sound from the inbuilt speakers is more than adequate - even in a large room.
When doing my own research, I had wondered whether to spend the extra money and go for the more expensive Plasma TV's that cost arounf £1500-2000, having chosen the LG 42 inch which I purhased for £730 I have not been disappointed, I use it everyday and have never regretted chosing it.
I have recommended this TV to members of the family, and my aunt has just purchased one herself!

...like to say that these LG Televisions are absolutely brilliant, I actually wanted a Panasonic Plasma but I found that the picture reproduction on the LG is absolutely brilliant for a lower price than that of the Panasonic. The sound is quite acceptable considering the size of the speakers. As you can see from my profile, I was a TV service engineer for some time and I used to repair Panasonics and LG`s. I always used to rate the LG`s on a similar ... ...were the poor man`s version of the "Better" makes but this TV that we have in our living room at this very moment certainly doesn`t look like any poor man`s set. In fact, quite the contary, It really does look the part, As the previous review states, there are so many connectivity configurations that it`s a brilliant piece of work. We`ve got a VCR/DVD player scarted into the Sky box, then a scart into the TV. The son-in-law has his Xbox 360 connected ...

I've had this TV for only a month but I really do think its great!
The TV looks very stylish, polished black. The speaker is hidden under the screen which confused me a bit when I got it! It also comes with a matching black glossy stand.
