I purchased a white LG American side by side fridge freezer at christmas time 2002. I was in the process of moving house and I had arranged with the company I purchased from to deliver to my new address.
I had checked the dimensions of the item and decided that it would fit through the back doorway without packaging. To gain access to the back door I had to go through a gate with a 6ft wall attached, yes you guessed it, the gate was too narrow and so, up over the wall it had to go.
I feel that I should mention the 2 delivery men who according to one of them 'Lifting this over a 6ft wall in not in his job description', and promptly left. It took 6 people to do the job.
The LG has a built-in ice maker (cubes & crushed) and water dispenser with a filter. Depending on how often the dispenser is used the filter should last an average of 6 months. The replacement filter can be purchased mail-order only. The filter and water tube needs to be plumbed in, an unforseen extra expense.
The capacity of both fridge and freezer is excellent, it is perfect for families and the lighting is in both fridge and freezer (compared to average fridgefreezers).
It also has safety glass in both compartments and beeps at you when the doors have been open for a certain length of time.
How about an update? Running costs etc. would be useful, as would the energy rating if you know it. Am looking for new unit, but would have been useful to have more info.
I like your style of writing. I rated fairly helpful as I felt you needed to include a bit more information ie number of shelves, drawers etc. I'd love one of these but don't have the room or the money. Welcome to Ciao & look forward to reading your next op.

why does it cost a lot to fill it? fill it with frozen peas and cat meat:)lenny
