...This is a big unit - the depth may be a problem for smaller cabinets, and you should remember the additional space required for the scart. I agree with other comments on fan noise. Not a problem when watching a movie in suround sound, but easily noticed when watching a quiet piece of TV. I also had a reliability problem, just inside the 12 month waranty period. The unit ceased to function. I had hoped for a new replacement, but LG only suplly a reconditioned unit with 3 months waranty. OK, but could have been better. The menu created on a DVD is fairly basic, but does the job. Recording quality is fine, but there are a couple of rough edges in the menu and operating system. There are some limitations in recording flexibility when using the cheaper DVD-RW rather than DVD+RW, and there is also a restriction on fast dubbing tracks that have... Read review

Advantages: 80gb hard drive
Disadvantages: Large and unreliable

...The LG RH 177 is easy to install and set-up, and as you'd expect it has one touch record, time shift and playback. It comes with a 80gb hard drive. When you attempt to go beyond the basic features you will notice a number of annoying features, such as; 1. When you set the player to record at set times, the system will not record if it is already switched on, particularly annoying if you're watching a DVD. You will receive a message on screen reminding you that it will start recording in X minutes, you then have to switch the player off and it will automatically switch itself back on. 2. Doesn't support Freeview, therefore if you're recording one channel and want to watch another, you can only watch an analogue channel. 3.
