Advantages: Aesthetically Pleasing, Great Sound, Power Saving Features Disadvantages: Standard Resolution lacks in clarity
...I bought the 42 inch LG5000 from Currys at a cost of £649.99 a little over a month ago now.
WOW! What a TV.
<<< Setup >>>
The box is huge and does come in handy for keeping the kids happy for a while leaving enough time for you to get the TV up and running.
Once unwrapped and plugged in it really is a breeze.
As I began to set-up the TV, the size of it made an impression on me. As I fired it up the next thing to attract my attention, was the great easy to use set-up menu which takes you through the set-up step by step, explaining everything as you go through. Once set-up was complete, I got down to sampling the many features on board.

The colours stood out to me from the outset, with vibrant, bright tones and great deep and detailed blacks. High definition images are fantastic giving...

Advantages: Clarity, detail, a movie experience at home, people's mouths fall open. Disadvantages: Any weakness in TV signal will be quickly apparent because of size.
...... it's not as good as, say, underneath for access. Once connected the various plugs are invisible but it's quite a tricky feat to reach up behind the machine whilst looking at the manual's picture of the back and plug anything in. Fortunately, once things are attached they're done for a long time.
You can't take this TV out of standby without pulling the mains plug out of the wall or flicking the switch. This annoys my wife as the socket is difficult to reach and we can't easily do that. The manual suggests turning things off fully whilst being struck by lightning or going on holiday.
How good is the LG 50PC56 for watching? This depends entirely on what you feed into it. If you have Virgin Cable then it's very poor. I've had an engineer come out to see why the built in Freeview which is great looked so much nicer than the slightly...

Advantages: great picture for the price Disadvantages: annoying standby light - but can be deselected.
...You have 2 choices on this model LG 20LC1RB or LG 20LC1R.
I eventually found out after much confusion on various websites that 'RB' has a black surround around the screen and 'R' has a silver surround. Apart from that the TVs are exactly the same. Both have 2 x 5 watt speakers, sleep timer, and fastext etc.
The LG 20 means 20" actual visual screen not the whole surround size so it is an impressive size.
I bought mine for £209.99 with £15 delivery (next day) which works out cheaper than most sites. I bought the silver, the black was out of stock, but I wasn't bothered either way.
The LG was bought to be mounted on the wall in my bedroom and after dubiously hanging it on my plasterboard wall (3 weeks ago and it's not fell down yet) I was a bit worried that the angle wouldn't be very good for watching from my bed...

I am actually using this monitor right now, and use to play all consoles in my room. Just a gorgeous look, black, really elegant, maybe not the largest of monitors/tvs but gets the job done. Easy to get up, although stand took a while to fix on. Many... more
There were a few reasons I was looking to change my monitor. The first was that, at just under five years old, my old (19" CRT) monitor was starting to show signs of strain and I wanted it replaced before the poor thing died on me. Secondly, I'm... more
